It was my first time trying Empanada Queen, a food truck in Baldwin, and overall, it was a decent experience. They had a deal for 10 empanadas for $28, so I decided to try a variety. I went with shrimp, beef, chicken, and mac and cheese empanadas. The flavors were all pretty tasty, with the shrimp, beef, and chicken being the standouts. However, I wasn’t a fan of the mac and cheese one—it just didn’t have the right texture or flavor I was expecting.
The wait time was short, which was a nice surprise, especially since it was freezing outside! I was glad to have the car to wait in while the food was being prepared.
One thing to note is that the outer shell of the empanadas was quite hard, which made them a bit tough to bite into. On the positive side, the fillings themselves were flavorful. The only other downside was that they only offer one sauce, which had a bit of spice to it. While I didn’t mind it, I wish there were a few more sauce options to choose from.
I’d still recommend it if you’re in the area and craving empanadas.

Food trucks on Sunrise Highway…they set up a little sitting area with red tables and chairs…but its still a highway. We got the dinner special, 3 empanada with rice black beans and green delicious sauce. Not greasy at all and the lady was very nice . They weren’t our favorite empanada, but it was still a good meal at a good price, and relatively healthy!
