Vibrant spot serving pasta, other Italian standards, plus cocktails, in an offbeat, hip space.

Dined here for the first time last night for my friend’s birthday dinner, and it was such a great experience! The ambiance, hospitality, and food made it well worth the visit. The Fettuccine Alfredo and Chicken Parm were my favorites — and the Spicy Caesar Salad & Garlic Bread were standouts too.

New to SF and felt homesick. Decided I needed a home cooked meal. Walked into Emmy’s and was greeted with a smile and great place at the bar. Surrounded by friendly, local patrons, Kat the bartender made me feel at home. Ordered house wine (x2) on happy hour and spaghetti with grandma’s meatballs (enough for lunch tomorrow), $50 tab. Delicious!!! Left Emmy’s with a full belly and comforted soul!

Staff are great and atmosphere is more lively. It is next to Royal Cuckoo Bar. Perfect convenient dinner place after /before drink. Recommend the wings, meatballs and gnocchi.

This place has a certain vibe to it, its so photogenic. We went on Monday night right after an influencer had just been there so it was packed. It took us a while to get seated even with a reservation for that reason, the staff felt really bad so they gave us our appetizers and drinks for free, the staff was super sweet. I loved the ambiance and the food.

Delicious food and one of our favorite restaurants but… our waiter definitely put a damper on our experience. Everyone in our party had something to say about him when we left the restaurant. My experience, while not as off-putting as my frends: I wanted to request a second order of the delicious foccacia and signaled to him as he was walking in our direction. He did not acknowledge my request nor make any eye contact and seemed to be about to walk by our table, so I discreetly signaled a second time. He then turned to our table and said “I saw you the first time.” I felt like it was a “gotcha moment” and he was trying to put me on the defensive. I also ordered a martini that came with a glass of seltzer and vermouth (I think). I was unfamiliar with this and asked what to do with it. His response was dismissive and unhelpful. I have to say that other wait staff were very attentive to us, polite and professional. However this individual has made us question if we would be returning even though this was our fourth time at the restaurant and we had considered it to be one of the “go to restaurants” in our neighborhood.

This place serves a proper serving of spaghetti and meatballs. I had to waddle my way out of the restaurant because I was so full. Order your meatballs grandma style (with pork, beef and cashews). You won’t regret it.
Also, the chicken parm in spicy vodka sauce. Where have you been all my life????

This place is a gem– I can’t stay away. The food is great, the drinks astonishingly good, the staff friendly and attentive. And they play awesome movies at the bar.
Note that this is a REAL restaurant. (There are many fake ones around these days, where the decor is sterile and people act like mechanical extensions of the POS.) How special to find a place that is human and warm and alive. What a gift to the city and the neighborhood.

The name says it all, it’s a shack and there is nothing wrong with it. Just don’t expect any highfalutin dinning experience but get wowed with rather healthy sized portions which don’t empty your wallet, then this place will do just fine.
We tried their White Bean Bruschetta which I quite like. I think the toast needed a bit longer on the grill to absorb the sauce from the toppings and prevent getting soft.
The Shrimp scampi Toast was perfectly rounded by flavor, crunch and the lingering flavors. For the main we tried their Spaghetti + Meatballs. The Bolognese sauce was nice but could use a bit more flavor. The meatballs, are huge for sure and tender. i would oven bake them first and the soft broil them in the Bolognese sauce. That way they stay crunchy but pack more flavors while staying soft and moist.
If you are seeking a warm spot with hearty food , this might just be the place for you.
