Starting with the servers: they were nice and helped us finding a nice table, even when we asked to switch. She was patient and always smiling.
The atmosphere at the place is cozy and maybe finer than a real pub… but this is a positive for me. Irish music playing on the background is nice and not too loud and we could enjoy our dinner comfortably. Obviously, I nice Guinness made everything even better.
Food was solid but not the best Irish I had (in town and anywhere else). We tried different things: the French onion soup and the Reuben Spring Rolls. The first was good, the spring rolls could have been cooked better: they were oily and greasy, covering the taste of the filling. The Fish & Chips was pretty good: fish was very well fried and tasteful. I asked for curry sauce on the side: I am ok with them to charge me $2 for it, but I was disappointed about it since it was very watery and with little flavor. Shepherd’s Pie was good too: not the best I have ever had, but it was decent. Maybe too much mashed potatoes and too little of the rest. But flavors were good and portion were generous.
I give them a 4 stars rating because I enjoyed my night there and I will definitely go back. But they must definitely do better with the food!
We didn’t have a reservation but were seated quickly, despite the restaurant being pretty packed when we arrived at 7:30 on a Thursday night. The servers were very friendly and knowledgable about the menu.
We also loved the Irish Coffee – one of the best I’ve ever had.
We’d definitely come here again and recommend!
We started with a cup of clam chowder and onion soup—both super comforting and full of flavor. I’m a sucker for a good Caesar salad, and theirs hit the spot. Fresh, crunchy, loaded with house-made croutons, and dressed perfectly.
For the main event, we split the sampler with Guinness Beef Stew, Shepherd’s Pie, and Chicken Pot Pie. Total comfort food heaven—each one was rich, satisfying, and full of flavor (but the stew was definitely my favorite!!).
Oh, and the live music was an added bonus!
We’re already looking forward to coming back next time we’re in town. Highly recommend!
The fish and chips were golden, crispy, and not greasy, with flaky fish inside. I also tried the shepherd’s pie, which was comforting, rich, and packed with flavor. The portion sizes are generous without being overwhelming.
What I love most is that the pub never feels overly touristy despite being in Beacon Hill. It’s a great place to unwind with friends over a pint or enjoy a quiet meal solo. The service is always attentive but never rushed.
If you’re looking for a classic Irish pub experience in Boston with great drinks and food, Emmet’s should be high on your list. I’ll definitely be back!
