Was looking for a Hot sub on a cold rainy day and Emilio’s was close by so I figured I’d give it a try. While walking in it’s a small shop with a few tables for eating in. It definitely gives off that old time Mom and Pop feel. I love that because it usually means they’re more focused on the food rather than looks.

Behind the counter was a husband and wife, which I believe were the owners. They were both extremely friendly and the woman assisted me in what I decided to order.

I ordered a small Chicken Parm sub toasted with provolone cheese with a drink. The bread was fresh and soft even with a light toast, there was the perfect amount of marinara sauce which was delicious I could tase hints of garlic and basil but wasn’t overpowering. What really stole the show was the chicken cutlets they were thin and perfectly seasoned and fried you can tell they are fresh and homemade not frozen. Overall it was a great lunch and I will definitely be back.

5 STARS! The DEFINITION of Old School Italian Excellence
Emilio’s in Watertown is more than a sub-shop—it’s a mandatory stop for authentic, old-school Italian food. This place genuinely cannot be beat!
You must try their signature items. The chicken cutlets are absolute perfection: incredibly fresh, perfectly breaded, and tender every single time. And the meatballs? Forget about it. They are clearly slow-cooked to falling-apart tenderness, simmered in a traditional, rich sauce that tastes like hours of love and dedication.
Even the salads are amazing, packed with vibrant, fresh ingredients—they don’t cut corners on anything here.
The true heart of Emilio’s is the incredible husband and wife team who run it. They are simply amazing people, treating every customer like family with their genuine, warm, old-world hospitality. Support this local gem!

The BEST chicken noodle soup I’ve ever tasted! Subs are excellent, prices are fair and the owners are super kind 🙂

Emilio’s has been my family’s go-to for their fully-loaded steak bomb subs and Greek salads for decades. It is unpretentious and lovely, run by a terrific local family. Yes I am biased, but it is such good comfort food and I am so glad they are there for my family when we want a no fuss, familiar evening old-style subway shop dinner.

Yes, my dad does complain about the bread, which is definitely on the soft side and not sourced, say, from the increasingly twee bakery Iggy’s (which used to be right around the corner).

Usually (still) we call in ahead, park in front, hop inside for our dinner, and are off again with no fuss.

A Watertown institution, for those who enjoy this casual style of food.

This review is based on a takeout order I made. I agree with another review listed here that the meatballs in my sandwich were more like breadballs. Flavor was good though. Service was not the friendliest or welcoming but not rude. Overall I give this place a 3.

I should have read the reviews about the meatball subs beforehand. Just as described…nothing about the meatballs are meaty. They taste like bread. Did not taste bad, but not anything close to what you expect at an Italian Sub Shop and at the price of 12$. Disappointing.

This place is amazing – a true gem. Irene and Emilio and Maria are so sweet and kind. I call them 15 min before I get there to place my order and they have it ready by the time I get there. The cold veggie sub is my usual order, and it is always the perfect meal or snack. They have the best sandwich rolls I’ve ever had. Truly a wonderful establishment.

The reviews are fair, that’s a really good steak bomb. All the ingredients were cooked very well, and the food was handed to me by two extremely sweet people which I can only assume to be Emilio and his wife. It’s always a pleasure to drive a couple extra minutes to support some local business owners, I look forward to coming back
Edit: came back, got an Italian, God this place is good
