Emilia’s Havana Restaurant – Houston, TX – OpenTable

Emilia’s Havana is an intimate speakeasy with the golden glamour of 1950s Cuba. With moody lighting, vintage charm, and a Latin pulse.

What a lovely experience! You go to The Annie and someone comes to get you and escorts you through the kitchen where the door is behind a fake shelf. Staff was attentive and food/drinks excellent. Ceviche tasted a little off but was promptly replaced for empanadas instead. I enjoyed the lively band.

Emilia’s Speakeasy in the Galleria area was the perfect setting for an unforgettable birthday celebration. Tucked away with that classic, intimate speakeasy feel, the space already carries its own magic — low lights, strong drinks, and an atmosphere that invites you to stay a while. Adding live percussion to that mix took the night to another level.

Performing there with the Houston Batucada crew was pure fun. The energy in the room kept building, the birthday crew was fully locked in, and the rhythms hit just right for the moment. The staff was on point, the flow of the night felt effortless, and everyone made it easy for us to do what we do best — bring the rhythm and keep the celebration alive. Emilia’s is one of those spots where music, people, and vibe line up naturally, and this birthday was a perfect example of that.

Given that the venue promotes an “authentic Cuban” theme, I was surprised to find that there was little to no authentic Cuban food on the menu. With stronger menu options, this place could compete more effectively with nearby restaurants like the steakhouses in the area. For a table of six, the total came out to about $1,200.00, which felt steep for the overall experience. The music was enjoyable, but the food was, at best, a generous 3 out of 5 considering the prices. The mac and cheese, in particular, is not worth $70+—especially when restaurants like Mastro’s and Steak 48 offer far better versions at a lower price. Perhaps the hidden, speakeasy-style atmosphere helps justify the cost to some extent, but overall the value didn’t quite match the price.

Super cool speakeasy that’s beautifully decorated. Service was excellent. The drinks were just ok. Very expensive drinks that were small and not that great. Band was fantastic! Cool night but be prepared to spend money because each drink is over $20. Never tried the food. Gratuity is already included in the bill plus the server will hand you the credit card machine which asks you to add an extra percentage for an extra tip so watch out.

My wife and I came here for oit 11th anniversary. We have never tried the speak easy concept before and went based of all the high reviews. Nothing in our experience disappointed. The food excellent (although the amazing lobster Mac and cheese was enough for 5 not just 2). The standout of the night was the service staff. From the doorman to the bus staff, every single staff member was smiling and going beyond to make our night special. I rarely write reviews but this experience beyond justifying it. Please try this on your next special evening!

Stopped by Emilia Havana and the place itself was already really nice great atmosphere and excellent cocktails. But honestly, Malena made the night better. Her service was sharp, attentive, and perfectly timed. The kind of hospitality that quietly turns a good place into a great experience.
I’ll definitely be back.

Great time first and foremost. Everyone must go. BUT a word of advice is to ask for the BAR EATS menu, thank me later as that food is reasonably priced. You arent given that menu unless asked for when you go to the 630 seating. The $50-$100 per person is a joke. My wife and I spent $650 out the door on top of the $25 reservation fee.
Steak was really good. Was it $88 just for a strak good no way! The empanadas were phenomenal! The band phenomenal! The service phenomenal but when you make $100+ per table split between everyone then it should be.
If the bar eats menu would have been provided the review would get 4 stars as the only thing to keep this from 5 stars are the prices. In addition to the already added on 22%! Gratuity and insane prices. You are charged 3% restaurant operations fee. AKA they know they can’t raise the prices anymore so they make the customers pay the staff what they feel they should make. Just a few thoughts.
With a place that talks about Cuban. Where was the cuban food? No plantains? No Yuca? Etc. Only “Cuban” food was empanadas. But lobster empanadas are not the norm. Perhaps the corporate chef needs to study on what cuban cuisine is and then reintroduce it.

Mike and Fabian made my first experience amazing. Mike gave us perfect recommendations to go with our occasion and the food we ate. Fabian made the drinks perfectly. Not to sweet and refreshing to match the food.

Cannot wait until we come back again!

What a wonderful hidden gem!! We had a lovely date night, our server Mari was fantastic and we ended up dancing and having a great time. The bat bites were very good as well. On the pricey side but worth the splurge for a fun night.

From booking our reservation with Mary, to the personal walk-in service by Ray to The excellent dining service from our Waiter Eric, the service and attention to detail was beyond all expectations. Then comes some of the most amazing food and craft cocktails I’ve ever had in my life, but to top it off, was the quaint atmosphere in an intimate vibe from the moment you walk in to the moment you leave paired with amazing live music I can’t wait to go back and share this place with as many people as I can! Thank you all for an amazing evening
