At Ely Taqueria we make all our food from scratch here in our kitchen. We are bringing the flavors of Mexico to Charlotte every day of the week. Come see us on Saturday and Sunday for our Barbacoa de Borrego, our popular lamb dish. On Fridays, our special is Mojarra Frita (deep-fried Tilapia) and on Thursday you will find Posolero (Pozole). We make a very rich and savory Chocolate Mole Chicken and a Chipotle Creamed Chicken. Join us for Taco Tuesday where most of our tacos are only $1.49 each! One of my coworkers offered lunch today and stated they would be going to Ely Taqueria. I had never heard of it and decided hey why not. After a quick glance at the menu I decided on three Carnita tacos. Pretty standard tacos came with onions and cilantro. I got a side of rice because I just love carbs. The tacos were very authentic in flavor. I do wish that the meat was a bit more tender. I think the onions were very overpowering but all in all definitely very good. This was a great lunch choice as I did not feel heavy after eating. if you’re ever on North Tryon and looking for a New Mexican spot I would definitely recommend Ely Taqueria.

I’m new to the area so I’m trying to find my taco spot. So when I found out that they do taco Tuesday specials, I was thrilled. NEVER AGAIN! First of all the Horchata was straight up trash, I can tell it’s not natural. They make it out of powder, so that’s all you can taste, like dirt. I ordered chicken tacos, and I almost choked. I found pieces of bone, which is obviously, a choking hazard. And one of my tacos had no cilantro or onion and barely any meat. I’m so disappointed at this place, but I guess I got what I paid for. $21 for 9 boney, barely-any-meat tacos, and a horchata that was undrinkable. I also had to wait forever for my food! It was not worth the wait whatsoever

Found this spot on TikTok and it definitely lived up to the hype. They’ve got a $1.50 Taco Tuesday and Thursday special, and the tacos are actually a solid size, no skimping here. We tried every flavor and they were all super flavorful and tasted authentic. Honestly, they were great on their own, but once you hit them with the sauces? They somehow become even better. They had 4 or 5 different ones with totally different vibes, but the green one was the best imo
Customer service was top-tier too. The guy taking my order suggested the Watermelon Agua Fresca and it was exactly what I needed on a hot Carolina day—refreshing, naturally sweet, and tasted like it was just made.
Already planning my next trip back to try more of the menu. If you haven’t been yet, you’re seriously missing out!

Very nice people. Authentic food. I went there for Taco Tuesday when the street tacos are $1.49 if you go let Jose know Vanessa recommended you to stop in. They have menudo on weekend and a variety of taco, burritos and plates. Try their homemade juices it $5 for giant cup of freshly prepared juice. It’s delicious . I like the cucumber pineapple juice

Haven’t had tacos this good since moving here from Arizona. This place is legit. People are so hospitable and friendly. The guy is putting his job aside to support her restaurant and fixing up the place. You can tell the food and place is a labor of love. Come for tacos and leave with thick and crispy tortilla chips. They make their food fresh everyday. Come on Tuesday for Taco Tuesday and chicharrones!

So far the only breakfast tacos I’ve found in Charlotte, and they were excellent. Salsas were very good too. Staff were extremely friendly, restaurant was very clean, great music. Will absolutely return.

Great food and friendly staff! I got the carnitas torta with yellow rice and black beans, and a horchata to drink. All were excellent! They also brought out four different kinds of salsa with the food. Will absolutely be back to try more of their big menu.

The new owner of this restaurant is an amazing chef. The food is so bomb, I had the green pozole and as soon as I had the first taste it was instant flavor. The pork was tender and everything was perfectly seasoned. They have a lot of options for food as well. If you are in Charlotte you NEED to check this place out!!!
