The restaurant itself is small and quiet. The decorations are very pretty and it makes you feel like you’re in Mexico. We are able to sit ourselves. The staff here seems nice so far. Our server is very soft spoken. The chips and salsa are pretty good; the salsa isn’t all that spicy. The enchiladas look amazing, as well as the black beans and rice. Both items taste amazing. You do get your money’s worth of food.

I have been coming in here for years. It really has not changed other than the people working there. Food is always good. Plenty of portion sizes, and the tacos are really really good. The bad juan is the Best drink in Dayton!!!! Definitely recommend giving it a try!

This is a dirty dive bar trying to run a side business of Mexican food, and it’s horrible. Where do I begin? Let’s start with the food… should I call it food? My first bite had me grossed out, I got their biggest burrito which the waitress (Kayla) said was her favorite. To me, it’s worse than a microwave TV diners, maybe because the food really was microwaved, because the entire order for my family was hot and ready after 5 minute wait. Suspicious indeed. The steak in my burrito tasted undone and wasn’t even diced! It was entire 5 inch slices of meat! Let’s talk atmosphere, the walls are filthy, the Mexican decorations are tacky and came straight from dollar general it seems. The bar next door was blasting their music while the restaurant was playing their own music… and here’s the crazy part… they had stapled papers on the walls forbidding phone calls in order to keep the atmosphere “peaceful” hahaha, insanity!

Our server was very friendly but that’s about the only compliment I have. Not the most family friendly environment, more of a dive bar than a restaurant. The food was terrible. Chorizo enchilada and chimichanga were both no better than the school mystery meat and the refried beans and rice were so old and dried out… I tried to give it a chance but i can’t. At least the kids liked their tacos. If you’re coming here just to drink then I’m sure it’s great, but we will not be returning for the food. Very disappointing.

I cannot speak highly enough of Meghan. Never wrote down a thing, even with all of our alterations and real-time order edits, and didn’t mess anything up.

She was extremely polite (and it’s natural, not an act), very efficient, and just one of those people you know you’d love working alongside.

The one downside was that it did take a minute for us to be seen in the beginning, albeit we did recognize that they were busy – especially seeing Meghan running around for all of her tables.

As a Dayton native, I’ve been to many Elsa’s, but this was my first time here, and it quickly became my favorite due to the service.

The food was just as amazing as the service. My fajita burrito crushed it and, as someone that doesn’t usually prefer refried beans, loved the side of refried beans.

Owner/Managers – you’ve got a gem in Meghan, promote her or do whatever is needed to keep her; she’s rare.

Went to their lunch buffet around 12:45pm, food was pretty good, selections were limited. At approx. 1:15pm, the dining room mostly cleared out, and the buffet was not re-stocked. I was a bit disappointed but it was fairly inexpensive.

I was told that there was no drink menu at this restaurant that had a full bar. When I googled, I found a drink menu that featured their name, logo, and their signature Bad Juan margarita. I asked the server/bartender if this was their drink menu and she said no, That they literally do not have a drink menu. We weren’t told that the chips were self serve so when queso was brought to us, we were really confused that we didn’t have chips. I had to pick a strawberry margarita because the bar staff apparently know beer and an overpriced glass of tequila with a little sour mix.

my taco salad was a tortilla bowl with lettuce, tomatoes, black olives, and taco meat. I had to ask for sour cream, which was served me a little paper cups that fell apart when I tried to scoop the sour cream out, overall it was flavorless.

I hate being this person but I really thought trying a new place would be nice. I’ll stick to El Asadero.

Celebrated 2 friends’ birthdays here. The service was good. My friends enjoyed their fish tacos and burritos. I got a burrito that I didn’t enjoy, but I may have just chosen the wrong thing. The chips were not my favorite. My 2 friends each received a free Mexican fried ice cream that was very good. The atmosphere was ok. Would try it again, but order something different.

I used to go to Elsa’s when I was in my twenties. Perhaps I was naive, because the Bad Juan’s were great back then. Those memories have since changed, because the food is nothing to write a good review about. Our server was great. Just between having an ala carte chips in a questionable sanitization dirty buffet cart, out of the can cheese dip, unseasoned chicken cooked in the microwave for our tacos and the fried ice cream on a fried tortilla shell that was masked with a cake of chocolate syrup and honey it was a disgusting meal. Whatever ambiance they are going for with the resemblance of BW3’s, Fricker’s or Rooster’s vibes, this is simply not the case and what I got from Elsa’s ambiance was cheap bar food and I certainly got what I paid for. We honestly wanted to leave after what little we did eat and pay for the tip. By the looks of the general state of the restaurant through the uncleanliness of the restaurant and the disgusting food it was not worth it to let management know our disatification sentiment toward our whole experience eating here.
