I was able to order and be seated quickly even though it was relatively busy. My food was brought out quickly as well, and the staff was friendly. The egg salad was just okay. It does not have much flavor once you finish the sauce on top.

Mostly style, some substance. There are good ideas on the menu and visually everything looks good, but execution wasn’t quite there, especially for the prices ($8/drink, $13-15/sandwich).

Had high hopes for Eloise and ended up somewhat disappointed. We went during peak hours and waited about 45min total (between waiting in line to order and waiting for the food after ordering). It’s very popular and only has a small kitchen, so I can understand the long wait time – however, after seeing the line out the door and waiting for this long, expectations were also heightened.

We had a white chocolate cherry matcha latte, an egg salad sandwich, and a French dip sandwich.

Matcha latte: 7/10
The matcha was listed on the menu as white chocolate raspberry, but when ordering the staff said there was only cherry available. Overall, it was decent. Matcha flavor could have been stronger and the serving size is quite small for the price.

Egg salad sando: 5/10
This should have included chives per the menu, but there were no chives at all – not even as a garnish. The soy marinated egg was front and center (as was a soy paste drizzle), which was good presentation-wise, but the rest of the egg salad sandwich had no trace of soy flavor, making the sandwich a bit bland. Was expecting the egg salad to be made entirely with the soy marinated egg, which would have been great, but it certainly didn’t look or taste that way.

French dip sando: 6/10
This sandwich is made with brisket, which is a great idea, and overall the sandwich tasted fairly good. However, the brisket (as other people have mentioned) is very fatty and is served in the sandwich with an inconsistent cut: some pieces are cut thinner and shorter, and other pieces are cut thicker and longer. This makes for difficult eating, since biting into a large thick piece often makes it come out of the sandwich all at once. Might be nice to have the brisket chopped or otherwise evened out texture-wise. The herbed butter tastes nice but ultimately makes the sandwich very heavy as it’s just beef and butter unless you pay an extra 50¢ for the horseradish. I feel like it would be more balanced if it came with the horseradish instead of the herbed butter. The broth that comes on the side is not really a typical jus – it’s more of a yellowish broth that tastes mostly like fat drippings from the brisket with little to no other flavors in it. As a small logistical point, the sandwich is also difficult to dip in the broth because the structure of the sandwich makes it easy for meat to fall out as you go to dip it.

The seating situation is also a bit odd. In order to prevent people from prematurely occupying indoor seats/tables before they have ordered, all of the tables have “reserved” signs on them. Then, if you make a dine-in order at the counter, the staff will seat you at a table IF there are any available at the time of your order. Makes sense, since seating is very limited. However, this makes it so that you can’t get a seat inside unless there are open seats at the exact time you happen to order. Otherwise, you will be forced to either take your order to go or eat at one of the unreserved outdoor tables – we did the latter, since there were no open indoor seats when we ordered. However, a party that ordered after us was seated inside because a table happened to become available right as they were ordering. Not a huge deal, just something to be aware of if you are looking to sit inside.

I got the French dip, most of it was just fat and the little bit that was not fat was super tough. It was pretty unedible. Reached out for a refund through IG since they don’t have a phone number. Still waiting to hear back. $17 for a sandwich I can’t eat is insane.

This place is serving up some delicious sandos. We tried the egg salad, chicken ceasar, and the pastrami.. all which were great!

What a wonderful addition to the Tennyson neighborhood! I love how they update their menu weekly it seems and it is a small selection of dishes and offerings they do really great. The shokupan sandwiches are really big! I was not able to eat the other half and took it home. The flavorful egg salad is plentiful and the jammy egg in the middle is a bonus. Vanilla Matcha was so good! My friend got the katsu and loved it. We will be back to try the sweet options soon! If there is a line, it goes by quickly! We took ours to go and ate them on a bench nearby. There are a handful of first come first serve tables inside that you can eat at after ordering as well.

Didn’t live up for me personally. On the Caesar, they strategically put the dollop of dressing and fresh parm on the cross-section (for the ‘gram), but then the rest of it inside was dry and undressed. Egg sando was better but similar situation where all the good sauce and flavor lived on the top of the cross section. Just felt like they were going for more style than substance :/

They also were out of all but two sandwiches at 1 pm which was disappointing.

Eloise is stylish and clearly popular. The space looks great and the service was friendly. We went during peak hours and waited about a full hour from getting in line to receiving our food, which definitely raised expectations.

I was especially looking forward to trying the katsu after seeing it mentioned in reviews, but it wasn’t on the menu when we went, which was disappointing.

The matcha was just okay — not bad, but not worth the price for the size. I expected a stronger flavor and better value.

The Caesar sandwich was a letdown. It was dry and fairly bland, and the chicken tasted like plain boiled breast with little to no seasoning. For the price, it needed much more flavor and balance.

The egg sandwich looked promising but didn’t deliver. It felt under-seasoned and lacked the depth the menu suggested. Overall, it came across as visually appealing but fairly muted in flavor.

Overall, it’s a beautiful, buzzy spot with good ideas. But between the one-hour wait, higher prices, and underwhelming food, it didn’t quite live up to the hype for us. I’m also curious whether there are true staple items here or if the menu changes frequently — because it’s hard to know what to expect going in.

Expectations were high. Service was good, the matcha is top notch. But Cesar sandwich – disappointment. So dry and tasteless. The chicken is just boiled chicken breast with zero seasoning. Pork sandwich was better but port was so fatty. It’s like 70% just fat. Also, 40 min waiting time :/

This new spot on Tennyson Street is worth the wait for their grand opening. Their sesame hojitcha latte and chicken katsu shokupan sandwich were simply incredible. Unfortunately, they were out of porchetta when I arrived, so they improvised with chicken katsu. Get there early, as the line starts right when they open and the seating is limited.

Delicious sandwiches. The bread is so soft. I had the chicken cesar and the egg salad. They were both great. They were sold out of the brisket and the spicy pork, but I’ll be back to try them too.
