Oh man I *need* one of these near where I live. SO much better than any IHOP or Denny’s! I wanted to try everything on the menu. I really don’t think you can go wrong here. Absolutely delicious.

We came in for breakfast around 8am with a group of 4 adults. The restaurant was steady, but not busy, so we were immediately seated. Ashley our server was beyond amazing. So sweet and helpful. She’s definitely a seasoned server. The food was the best we had while visiting for 4 days, and we ate out every meal. Everything was 10/10.

Stopped by Elmer’s and it gave more of a diner feel. Service was just okay. I had an omelette it was fine, nothing special. The drink was overpriced and looked half full, which was disappointing. On the plus side, the pancakes were tasty and they do have parking, but overall it seemed like a basic restaurant with basic meals.”

We’ve been traveling a lot across the U.S. over the past three years, and it’s kind of our thing to try pancakes and crepes everywhere we go. At this place, I ordered every single pancake and crepe from the menu — and oh my god, they were the best I’ve ever had in my life. Absolutely perfect! The German pancake with strawberries and the Cinnabon pancakes were so insanely delicious it should be illegal!
Also, the service was excellent — super fast and attentive. Loved everything about this place! ✨

Had a lovely breakfast here. No wait time during the week around noon. Service was excellent. The food was really good and all tasted homemade. The biscuit and pancake were excellent. Chicken fried steak was perfect.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Outstanding Breakfast and Service!

Elmer’s at 10001 NE Sandy Blvd, Portland, Oregon was the perfect start to my morning. The service was friendly, fast, and welcoming, the kind of hospitality that makes you feel right at home.

I ordered a black coffee and it was amazingly hot, bold, and full of flavor. The classic German pancake deserves its own spotlight. It was out of this world… light, delicious, and prepared perfectly. I also enjoyed a traditional breakfast of three eggs, crispy hash browns, and toast. Everything was cooked just right and served with a smile.

If you are ever in this area and want to start your day off right, this is the place to do it. Highly recommended. I’ll definitely be back! ️

Chain restaurants are not generally my cup of tea, I prefer more homespun fare, places that are more, say of the people. But once upon a time I visited the Elmer’s in Vancouver and found their burger to be fairly decent and their fries to be perfect or at least close to perfect.

So I thought that I would compare the two, I mean, they do have some extra extraordinary breakfast options. Not the least of which is the Dutch baby, which I would travel for. However it was lunchtime and if I am going to partake in lunch my due diligence is to try the hamburger.

Well to start with, the restaurant was nearly entirely empty when I went in which I will honestly say was just a little on the scary side. Perhaps I arrived at a moment between the waves like standing in the ocean just as the water stills and before the next rush of water.

The service was great and I appreciate the two lemon wedges in my iced tea which is an unusual touch. But good service and sincerity will only take one so far. they are the ring within which the jewel is meant to appear. The jewel of course being the food. Nothing else can save an experience if the central core is lacking

The hamburger seemed to be void of any seasoning at all and they obviously come frozen. It was chewy and gray and I will say, a great disappointment. Yes, I know that life is full of disappointment but it’s a little painful when you have to pay for them.
I have heard Elmer does this because so many of it customers are old, like myself. They hold back the salt so that patrons are not dropping in the aisles. However, this old man wants his burger to be on the savory side.

The french fries had a strange texture and were kind of chewy which did not elevate the experience. In fact, they were some of the worst fries that I have ever had. I don’t remember the other Elmer‘s having fries that were this bad. It actually surprised me and I had to examine a fry carefully trying to understand what might’ve happened.

But alas, it remains a mystery and I’m afraid not one that I would attempt to solve again. As people began to drift in I wondered if Elmer‘s niche is mostly a senior population hankering after the chains of the old days. A kind of comfort in sameness, a return to Leave it to Beaver or Lawrence Welk, both of which bored me to tears even as a child.

Let me say again, that the service was excellent, the manager kind, but it needs some new blood, it needs to bring love into the food. That burger did not seem to me to be wearing the cloak of pride, as if the cook was just going through the motions.

They probably do breakfast much better.

We tried the strawberry German pancake which was delicious. The Denver and crab omelettes were great. Only thing I don’t like about this place is they do not allow take out orders. Aside from that it’s a great place.

We met with a group of friends here for breakfast on a weekday. We were seated promptly. The restaurant was very clean and our table was comfortable.

Our server was awesome. She was personable, very efficient and fulfilled everyone’s requests. The food arrived as ordered, hot, and quickly.

The food what we expected. Really, I’d say 4.5 stars, because the oil they used to fry the potatoes tasted off to me. Probably just my own personal tastes, and I ate them anyway. They were very patient with us sitting for several hours and visiting and not once tried to encourage us to leave.

The restroom was also clean. It has a locked door with a code, which they shared with us when we were seated.
