I’m a big fan of classic diners, and honestly, there aren’t that many around anymore. Although, Elmer’s has managed to stand the test of time. This is another one of those reviews that I waited to write because it’s been 20 years since the last time I ate here

The location is convenient, especially if you’re a student at ISU, notably having all the classic diner staples, like extra large booths and bar top. If you’re visiting during winter, there’s a coat check for convenience, and the cold weather makes the coffee taste even better.

The staff has always been very friendly, and I take it as a good sign when they bring their family in to eat where they work, which happens here a fair amount.

The menu doesn’t really have anything particularly special about it, but I would make sure to get something with a biscuit, as good biscuits are hard to come by these days. Other than my previous tip, I can’t really say I favor one menu item over another, as the quality it great on everything.

Overall, a rock solid diner experience, for those that are into that kind of thing.

Great local doner. Super classic old school. Cook knows his business in the kitchen. Stuffed northwest hashbrowns are a treat! Love the vibe and the food! It is now a mandatory stop every time I go to Pocatello.

The food tasted good but came out cold. The waitress was extremely friendly but disappeared after bringing the food. And the time between the order and the delivery of food was substantial compared to other diners. The coffee was okay, the decor is comfortable but dated. Solidly mediocre.

Everyone enjoyed their meals, it’s such a nice dinner. We were a party of 6 with 4 littles. Our waitress Jamie G was absolutely spectacular. My youngest son gave her 10,000 stars they loved it!

Really nice place to grab some breakfast. It was bustling with people but we were still seated quickly. We had a huge party of 13. The menu was huge and there were so many options. They serve breakfast, lunch and dinner. Service was quick and the servers were really nice and accommodating. I ordered the Strawberry Crepes and they were SO, SO good. My kids all loved their food. There was plenty of parking. I enjoyed my experience here. If I was ever in Idaho again I would definitely visit Elmer’s Restaurant!

German pancake was fantastic. Fluffy, sweet, and eggy. Bacon and eggs were great. Delicious meal. I would order this again. I recommend this restaurant to any breakfast or sweets lover.

We went to dinner here and the food was really good, our server was amazing and it was quiet. People were able to converse without any trouble.
Update: This morning we had breakfast with a group of friends. I had blueberry pancakes, bacon and eggs. The pancakes were amazing and the bacon is wonderful and perfectly cooked.
Everyone enjoyed their meals. And the serving size was massive. We all had food come home.

I ordered the Eggs Benedict with avocado and tomato. Only gave 4 stars because the eggs were more poached leaving less runny yolk than I like. Our waitress was amazing and did offer to have them cook new eggs and I let her know it wasn’t necessary. Food was delicious, came fairly quickly and was priced well. Definitely recommend and will be going back!

I lived in Pocatello for six years and can easily say this is one of the only good places to eat. The service is great and the staff is friendly. The food comes out quickly and is very filling. To be honest Elmer’s is the only thing I miss about living there.

I was seated very quickly and served by Preston, who treated me respectfully like any other customer despite my young appearance(I’m 17 but appear 13-14). He approached me quickly and served me quickly.

He accidentally spilled my orange juice while trying to take my menu, but handled it so professionally. He apologized and immediately went to grab papers towels to clean it up. He didn’t profusely apologize, he didn’t get defensive, but assessed the issue and immediately moved to solve it.

Presentation was great, too. The bowl was clean, as was the spoon– although there was a little bit of spillage on the side. It was nice and thick. The chocolate cake was on it’s side, which I respect– that prevents it from falling over while the server brings it out, so props to that.

The actual place was busy but rather quiet. I could hear the music, which was quiet. A great place if you’re looking for quiet dining. Of course there was still chater, but nothing like a school cafeteria.

Overall, a wonderful experience. Food presentation was great and the service was wonderful. I will be returning.
