This place is pretty close to my inlaws house and I can’t believe we have never tried them before.
They are so good. Perfectly toasted potato buns on a roasted beef dog. Is like the perfect combination. They have a huge variety of options but you can also custom your own!. They do also have a bunch of tasty sides and lots of options to custom your dog.
The guy that worked there was friendly and helpful.
We mostly had custom hot dogs, they all were super good. My favourite custom one was with cheese, bacon and grilled onions. Please give it a try, you won’t regret it!. My husband loved the slaw hot dog.
I will definitely eat here again when I’m visiting the family.

Probably the best hot dog I’ve had in RVA! Perfectly toasted buns and roasted hot dogs, with just the right amount of toppings – and you can customize! I’m a classic fan, so the RVA dog is my go-to.
Our kids loved the octopus hot dogs, which are normally served on a bed of mac and cheese, but we substituted for a side of potato salad once. They now constantly request octopus (and jellyfish hot dogs). The potato salad was good. Standard fare. The mac and cheese has a deep flavor – it’s not the gooey, kraft style mac and cheese, but definitely more homemade vibes. Ice cream was delicious Hershey’s ice cream! We’ve had the hot fudge sundae with crazy vanilla (vanilla flavored, rainbow colored) as well as a moose track kids sundae. Each hot dog order comes with a pickle slice.
The service here is wonderful! Seriously, so nice! Everything is made to order, so when it’s just one person, there can be a slight wait, but they’re so friendly, and the other patrons are just as nice. The prices are great, and there’s an immediate cash discount. There’s plenty of covered outdoor seating, and there are fans for when the weather is on the warm side. The tables are bolted, so you can’t combine them if you have a larger party, but the built in bench seating and close proximity of the tables makes it still very easy for groups to gather. If you’re in the area (for example, after swinging by Soar365), I highly recommend checking it out!

My friend and I grabbed some hot dogs today at Ellie’s. He tried the two chili dogs and he deemed them SOLID. I went for the slaw dog and a chili dog, and they were impressive. Back in high school, I worked at a hot dog shop, and I’ve never had anything quite like this since. The bun was wonderfully toasted and the hot dog itself was cooked to perfection. What topped it off was the fact that it was made of beef. Definitely a top-notch hot dog experience.

Staff was helpful!! Chili dog was classically done and pretty darn good–the steak dog was even better!! Oh yeah, they toast the hotdog buns!!!! Awesome touch! They had jalapenos and hot sauce for added bonus points. Hot fudge sundaes were made with real hot fudge and not that runny syrup, which is, in fact, not a good replacement if you order hot fudge! Moose tracks and peanut butter ice cream was solid! Root beer float had the bottle of root beer on the side! Oh, and the spoons were hyper-color/temperature sensitive for the final cherry on top of greatness Get out and support this place for sure!

Really happy to have found this spot. Who doesn’t love a hot dog stand! And milkshakes too! Really appreciate the inclusion of the vegan hot dog on the menu, as that’s a rarity. Prices were good for loaded dogs, patio is clean and shaded.

We got the two rva dogs with a drink and the two carolina dogs with a drink specials. Absolutely AMAZING. Then we got shakes for dessert. Also absolutely AMAZING. Prices were great, the staff were great, and the atmosphere was great. Will be coming back often!!

We just left Ellie’s and I immediately had to write a review – it was that wonderful! We went for a special mother-son lunch with my toddler and it was absolutely perfect. Delicious meal for me, simple and yummy hot dog for him. Everyone was so kind and friendly.

Outstanding hot dog!!! The buns are toasted and buttered, and the dogs themselves are super high quality. You can have a fantastic lunch for $10. Service excellent as well. Love this place.

Very yummy hotdogs, good ice cream, great prices, and everything served with a smile!! I really enjoyed this spot. It’s a family business with a big heart, good food, and a love for dogs! I got that nacho dog and Mac and cheese (pickled), and my dad got that kraut dog and potato salad. I loved all my food and my dad, who lives in the PA Dutch region of PA (read lots of sauerkraut and potato salad) said his food was delicious as well! Best of all, two dogs, two sides, and a soda all for $16! And we were super satisfied but that didn’t stop us from getting some ice cream!

This is my new favorite spot in Richmond! Highly recommend the octopus Mac and cheese! The hot dogs are so good and the buns remind me of Texas toast! Bonus they have a dog friendly patio and they sell pup cups!
