I love diners like this. They give you real portions at a great price. Food is delicious and I hope they stay around forever.

I’ve been to this restaurant for many many years with my grandfather, a white American, and service was usually fine. But today I came in with my daughter, and the experience was insulting.

The waitress told me to sit wherever, so I did. I sat there for over 15 minutes while my daughter cried for milk, and this waitress walked past me multiple times without a word. Then, a group of four walked in after me and—what do you know—she rushed right over to greet them, showed them their table, and take their order like I was invisible.

I guess my skin color made me less of a paying customer. Maybe I’m just “too Asian” to deserve basic service here.

So, I left. On the way out, I smiled and told the other party “enjoy” because clearly they were worth the waitress’s time.

Here’s the deal: this place is quick to serve when I’m with my white grandfather, but when I’m alone with my daughter, suddenly I don’t exist. That tells me everything I need to know. I won’t be coming back—and I hope this restaurant is proud of showing its true colors.

Ellie May’s Diner is a true gem! I stopped in for breakfast and was seriously impressed. The frittata was absolutely amazing—perfectly cooked, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The service was warm and attentive without being overbearing, and the staff made me feel right at home.

The atmosphere is super cute, cozy, and spotless, which really adds to the charm of the place. Whether you’re a local or just passing through, I highly recommend stopping by Ellie May’s for a delicious start to your day. I’ll definitely be back!

Quick breakfast. Decent portions. We had a ham & cheese omelet, eggs and hash w sausage gravy.
Interior is very dated. Old seats and older utensils. $12 for an omelet and $6 for hash seems pricey. But it was quick and hit the spit.

It’s a quaint diner. Decor is fun. Service is good enough. Food is as expected for a diner. Prices aren’t high. Nothing makes this place stand out necessarily, it’s a good diner. Worth the visit.

I was on the verge of withering away in hunger when I looked up diners and saw this one. Walked in and the place is very clean and the decor is very cute and retro with a cute farmhouse touch. Waitress was polite and kind and the food saved my life. The French toast was rich and fluffy and the eggs were cooked to perfection

Along time ago, in a far away land, some guy named Al had this diner. This morning, my son and I stopped in, while doing some running around. Fantastic !! Kielbasa, cheddar cheese, onions omelet…… two pancakes – didn’t know they were that huge !! My son had the French toast which he wouldn’t let me steal…. coffee, oj, milk…… stuffed !!! In the Village of East Syracuse, just a jump of the highway !! Very very nice !!! I’ll be back 🙂

If you’re looking for a local diner with great food and service- this is the spot! It was a first time for us today, so when we walked in and saw that it was a bar, we were confused! There were about 10 people sitting there and they kindly, and quickly, pointed us out the door and to the right to another door that hosted our destination 🙂 although in that moment, we kinda wanted to abandon our solid breakfast plans for a more liquid one…. but we were on a mission. Out of hunger, we decided to stop at the first place we saw and this was it, so we had to continue forth. And boy am I glad we did because the banana pancakes were the best I’ve had in years! The place isn’t big but the staff have personalities big enough to fill it!!! Needless to say- the food was great, the atmosphere and prices on point, and we are looking forward to going back and hanging at the bar 🙂 thank you for an amazing first experience at your establishment!!!
