Flew in with a friend for lunch. Business was brisk and we waitlisted for a bit. A spot at the bar opened up and we dined there.

I had the Patty melt with fries. I ordered it medium rare and it came well. It was quite tasty nonetheless. My partner ordered the turkey club with chips….it came out with fires. He enjoyed those as well. :). Zoe kept use loaded with ample ice tea. A good time was had 🙂

Super great breakfast and a decent value. Cool venue, you can sit outside and watch the planes come and go. Service is a bit slow and a super backed up kitchen on Sat morning. Think “island time” and you’ll be fine.

Co-worker and I were out on the island for an install. Once complete, our client brought us to Ellen’s for lunch. I I ordered the “trash burger” as listed on the menu. The burger was delicious and cooked perfectly to medium rare. The side of fries was a generous portion and every single fry was crispy. My co-worker had a burger as well and was very pleased. Client had the fried chicken plate and it looked amazing. Restaurant is exceptionally clean, type two gals working had excellent customer service skills and very attentive and social. Cooks were efficient and friendly as you are able to see them in the kitchen if you are sitting at the counter. Would recommend Ellen’s to anyone and will stop in on my next trip out.

This cool little eatery fits into this small island airport perfectly and the outdoor seating with runway views is fun. I sat at the bar inside and tried the huevos rancheros. It was solid and very enjoyable. Definitely worth coming here for a different island experience and the food just happens to be good too.

Ellen’s at the Airport, located in Shoreham, Block Island, is one of the best breakfast spot in town. This small restaurant, conveniently situated in the airport, offers friendly service and a traditional breakfast menu with options like hash, eggs, and chicken and waffles. We had a fantastic experience and highly recommend this place.

Everything was delicious! Food came out quickly and it was all great. Prices were reasonable as well. It’s small though in winter without the patio so we had to wait a bit. I wonder if they could add more tables.

We came out of state to visit. We called several days ahead to ask about cross contamination for someone with Celiac to plan our visit properly and we were advised they could accommodate. We arrived and our server advised that the kitchen was only gluten friendly and that they actually could only accommodate if pancakes were ordered. We felt like we were putting them out by asking if the kitchen was able to work with us. We left feeling like we bothered them. Super disappointed We would have not come in if they were honest about the kitchen’s ability to not accommodate Celiac.

Response to the restaurant since I couldn’t reply to the comment directly. First, though, I have done several reviews through the years and this is my first negative one. Feel free to take a look. To reply to your comments, I “felt the need” (as you put it) to post this review to save other’s time if they have someone with Celiac in their party because this restaurant is not safe when it comes to Celiac requirements and whomever advised on the phone that it could be safe was incorrect. Indirectly, it left us with no place to have lunch because it is the end of the season with everything mostly closed. We would have made different arrangements if we had known Ellen’s wasn’t safe. My review was honest based on my experience. Our server asked the chef and this is what she told to us verbatim. Perhaps train the staff to list all of the items that you mentioned that are available? We trusted what the server, when she said, it was all cross contaminated including the fry pans and all surface areas. I would suggest being honest on the phone going forward, as mine is not the only review mentions that they called ahead and had to leave as well because it wasn’t safe to eat there for their family with Celiac. Regarding the drinks, our server told us it was on the house (which consisted of ice water and iced tea that I took two sips from).

Wow, what a disappointment. The blueberry pancakes had 6 blueberries in each one and were so cold they didn’t melt the rock hard butter that served with it. The Philly cheese steak omelet was spongy and the meat was one big glob of “steak” from end to end with whole strips of 5 peppers laid on top and 3 strips of onions. The home fries were the frozen cubed version deep fried and the rye toast was marble bread barely toasted with unmelted butter on half of the pieces. The coffee was ice cold on top of everything else that was barely warm.
The homemade hash was stringy and dry and had an odd spoiled meat taste. I almost gagged on my first bite and for the first time in 67 years spit my food into my napkin because I almost threw up. We have never been so disappointed in a meal ever. The server took the hash off the bill but that was it. As a regular of Bethany’s we were so upset to have our hopes of another fantastic breakfast spot shattered.
We heard such good things that we couldn’t believe how bad it was. Everyone has an off day so maybe that’s what happened here but when it’s all bad from beginning to end well that’s hard to believe.

Block Island is an amazing place, but during the season it is busy, and sometimes, not all the time, eating establishments there can seem to have more customers than they need. Ellen’s at the airport really does great job of having your meal and time there feel less hurried and intense than at most busy vacation spots. The food was breakfast fare and frankly hard to mess up, but they did a great job and was very happy with it. You get to watch small planes land and take off, not busy, there was one aircraft that used the runway when I was there. Will go again.
