Great food! def recommend the onion rings for the appetizer, loved the complimentary hush puppies and honey butter!
Portions were large for us we came out stuffed but we were not complaining!
Little on the pricey side but it was a great treat!

Family favorite. Coming here for years. Food has always been outstanding. I always get fried shrimp and Flounder, salt & peppered dark side. It’s a southern thing. I recommend you try it. You will love Ella’s. A true southern diamond.

You don’t stop at a four generation 70 year mainstay like Ella’s and expect fancy decor, haughty staff, and high prices. You expect a comfortable, local favorite serving up comfort food like it always has. And that’s what you get here – some quality Calabash seafood in a comfortable place where locals will flock even in the winter. They bring you some hush puppies, which are fabulous. Then we tried a couple of the fresh shrimp appetizers – both delicious. I chose the fresh catch – blackened grouper, and my friend had the Calabash three ways plate. Both were delicious and were gobbled up quickly. Definitely a worthwhile visit in Calabash.

After a short wait,we were greeted by a wonderful waitress.
We had senior combination plates with shrimp, clams and oysters. All were delicious, but the clams were particularly good. The oysters were fresh and cooked just right. The only drawback was that the she crab soup was a little bit watery, but it was still tasty.
If you want good local seafood deliciously prepared, Ella’s is the place to go!

A wonderful, long time family owned seafood place famous for Calabash style seafood, which they do extremely well, but my family returns year after year in the spring for their oyster roast, which is phenomenal (if you’d like oysters, that is!). Their entire menu is great and they do some of my favorite hush puppies on the coast.

After not having been to Ella’s for quite some time, I was pleasantly surprised to find the restaurant was along our travel route. The food is just as great as I remember from years ago. The lunch special the day I dined was a choice of one or two fried seafood options with french fries, coleslaw, and a beverage. I ordered the clam strips and a deviled crab (I did not take a photo of the crab). The clams and crab were delicious and the portion was great for the price. They bring hush puppies for the table, as well, which were also good.

This is obviously a very popular spot based on the reviews, and a long-standing family place at that. To start with the positives the place is impeccably clean. You can tell they are a well maintained operation. Also the service is very good and friendly. The food though was hit and miss. The hush puppies and crab bisque was very good, the appetizers were good, the platter was mixed in that the fish was tough dry and rubbery, almost like twice fried but I don’t believe it was. And my daughter’s crab legs were mixed surprisingly. One cluster was good the other was so salty I had to spit it out, maybe a bad cluster. Still overall a good place I would recommend. We wish them the best success.

We tried this place in Calabash after many years of going to another establishment in Calabash for years and deciding not to ever go back. Ella’s was recommended by a local. The flounder, shrimp, BBQ, and etc was great. Our server, Becky, was great. The prices were fair for the quality and portion size. Our family will be back. Best in Calabash!

Steamed oysters were very good. Can order them wet, medium, or dry. The fried shrimp were not perfect. My family has gone to Ella’s since they opened, and we will be back.

My family used to go to Ella’s for dinner when my father was stationed at Myrtle Beach AFB back in the 70s. I always remembered it being good. Had lunch there on Sunday and it did not disappoint. Food was delicious! My brother and I had deluxe seafood platters and my mother had a small choose 3 platter with a cup of clam chowder. Service was good although they were very busy. We all enjoyed it greatly and hopefully it won’t be another 40 years before we get back. I am still convinced they serve the best hush puppies and fried oysters I have had anywhere in the world.
