It was AMAZING!!! From the food, to the service, everything was great! We had amazing food and even better dessert. I highly recommend the Gooey Butter Cake. The texture was like no other, and I have never had anything better. The drinks were perfect and even though the courses were small, they were very filling. Definitely coming here again next time I’m in Chicago.

One of Chicago’s best kept secrets in Southport. You feel like you’ve stepped inside a different world. From an amazing wine list, great service, housemade pasta it’s all so good. Loved the mushroom toast and hubby loved the French Onion one. The Sea Bass was excellent. Get that gooey butter cake. Ask for Paige as your server!

Ella Elli was fantastic. The drinks were delicious as was the food. The only reason I have to dock a star is because we felt like the portions were a bit on the small side to be shared with a table of 4. If you are going here with a date and it’s just the two of you then portion sizes are perfect. If there are more people in the party I would definitely consider ordering two of any dish that all are wanting to try. The food was absolutely spectacular though. Every dish from the bread and butter to the octopus was cooked and seasoned to perfection. We had the Brussels sprouts, squash, octopus, focaccia, sea bass, gnocchi, and cream puffs. Highly recommend giving Ella Elli a try. I doubt you’ll leave disappointed.

If you’re looking for the perfect date night spot, Ella Elli should be at the top of your list.

Everything we ordered was outstanding. The house marinated olives were the perfect start, and the French onion toast was the star of the apps. The crispy Brussels sprouts were packed with flavor, and the red shrimp ceviche quickly became my wife’s favorite. The tomato pizza with burrata was light and fresh, and the ricotta gnocchi with truffle was rich and had incredible texture. The cacio e pepe was a bit too overpowering on the pepper for our taste, but the noodles were excellent.

For dessert, the Profiteroles and Gooey Butter Cake were both incredible.

The cocktails were also impressive. The Rosemary Gimlet was light and smooth, the Say Less was my favorite, and the Double Eau was strong with a unique olive oil finish that looks and tastes super dope.

Warm lighting, cozy seating, and a fireplace make the space feel both elegant and relaxed, and the service was friendly and accommodating.

The overall vibe here was fantastic, the wait staff were very attentive. I enjoyed trying a few new things, the gnocchi was PHENOMENAL I would go back just for this dish specifically. I also really enjoyed the ahi tuna dish wish I did not photograph.
Most of the dishes I tried were fine, didn’t stand out but were all cooked well.

A criminally underrated restaurant on the Southport corridor imo. If you’re looking for a cozy date night option with good food and a great wine selection, this is your spot. The service was so attentive. The bartender, Bear, was super knowledgeable about the entire menu and recommended some really great dishes. Highly recommend everyone try the artichokes and the rigatoni.

So the problem wasn’t with the taste of the food.
It was the quantity.
I get its restaurant week, but it still ends up being a $150 meal, you shouldn’t leave still hungry.
The portions are the smallest they could legally be while still technically serving you food.
I just think they went overboard with the size shrinkage.
Especially the cheesecake, it was like a crumb.
Like they cut a normal slice into 1/4’s.
The tuna is two finger nail sized pieces of Tuna.
At least don’t be stingy on the dessert.
Also – they just renamed the surcharge to “3.5% admin fee”
Cause I guess enough people wised up to the surcharge so they rebranded it.
I’m just sick of having to be nickel and dimed by restaurants.
Service and wait staff was great though!

I celebrated my birthday here with family on a Monday, and as always, Ella Elli delivered a top-notch experience. From the food and cocktails to the attentive service, everything was spot on. Our server was incredibly kind—answering questions, pacing each course perfectly, and impressively balancing bar duties while still giving our table thoughtful attention. Other staff were equally attentive, quickly clearing plates and bringing fresh settings without us ever having to ask.

We enjoyed a wonderful spread: the rosemary gimlet, creamy mushroom toast, grilled cauliflower, artichokes, crispy grain salad, ceviche, sea bass, cacio e pepe, lamb rigatoni, and profiteroles. To top it off, they surprised me with the gooey cake and salted vanilla ice cream, complete with a candle to mark the occasion.

Ella Elli is consistently excellent and makes any visit feel special. Highly recommend—whether with family, friends, a date, or even solo.

Perfect cozy elegant spot for a nice dinner. Beautifully curated menu. The charred octopus was SO tender. My personal favorite was the Lamb Scottadito.
