Elizabeth Cocina & Mexicana Bar is a hidden gem in Athens. My girlfriend and I decided to try it because the prices were very reasonable and Google Maps had it rated 4.7 stars—and now I completely understand why.
We each got a full meal for about $12 with very generous portions. I ordered a taco, a chalupa, and a beef burrito, and everything tasted great—fresh, flavorful, and well prepared. My girlfriend had two margaritas and absolutely loved them.
The service was exceptional, the food was excellent, and we were genuinely surprised at how affordable the whole experience was for a nice night out. Great value, great food, and great service. We’ll definitely be back.

The best food for the best price and the kindest employees! I moved to Athens only a few months ago and I’ve lost count of how many times my family has eaten here, simply because of the quality of food, service, and prices. The corn tortillas are homemade and are so good!
Don’t miss out on the salsa verde. We get it with our chips and it’s INCREDIBLE.

We passed through Athens on the way to Florida. Saw very good ratings for Elizabeth’s Cocina Mexicana & Bar. Stopped and had a great meal “Pineapple Chicken Fajita” and a Lime frozen Margarita. The atmosphere was bright and clean. Friendly staff was a highlight as well. Will stop again for sure!

The food was immaculate! As authentic as you can get. The quesabirria tacos were hands down my favorite item. If you’re up for a bit of kick, the salsa roja (spicy) is a must. The micheladas are the best I have had outside of home. The service was impeccable and my waitress was so sweet and attentive. This is a must visit if you’re nearby

I had such a great experience at Elizabeth’s Cocina Mexicana & Bar! From start to finish, everything was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented.
We started with the classic chips and salsa — the chips were perfectly crispy and the salsa had just the right kick without being overpowering. My coworker ordered the birria tacos served with consomé, fresh lime, onions, and cilantro. They looked incredible — crispy golden tortillas stuffed with tender, savory meat — and my coworker couldn’t stop raving about how delicious they were, especially when dipped in the rich, flavorful consomé.
I ordered the chicken, steak, and shrimp over seasoned rice topped with creamy queso. Every bite had a great balance of smoky grilled flavor and cheesy goodness.
The atmosphere was warm and inviting, with friendly service that made the meal even better. Elizabeth’s Cocina is definitely a spot I’ll be coming back to whenever I’m craving authentic, delicious Mexican food!

We were passing through Athens on our way to the Gulf coast. Found this welcoming and comfortable restaurant online. We will be back! Their service was friendly and attentive. The homemade chips and salsa spot on! Come very hungry; the portions are very generous! Their Burrito Texano, with steak, chicken, shrimp, chorizo, bacon and bell peppers, onions, tomatoes, topped by a tasty cheese was wonderful. The Quesadilla Deluxe, a flour tortilla stuffed with seasoned ground beef, lettuce, sour cream, pico de gallo, and guacamole along side rice and refried beans matched the burrito! Check this place out. You, too, will be back.

If you read my previous review, they finally got my cheese dip! And it was worth the wait lol. The food was great. The best mexican rice I’ve had in a while, and the absolute best Birria! Wonderful Sauces. Our server Holly was great and had lots of reccomendations that were right on point!

Our new go-to Mexican restaurant! The food is DELICIOUS!! The staff is awesome! Mark normally does not eat guacamole, but it is so good here that we get two orders (we ain’sharing ) If you haven’t been to Elizabeth’s Cocina Mexicana in Athens yet…GO‼️ We go at least once a week and get something different everytime. It is all good. Carne Asada w/ Cactus , Fajita Hawiian, and of you dont eat TOO much…..The handmade Strawberry Margarita is like dessert. They give you a spoon to finish!!

I felt bad that my son and I went in while the guys were cleaning up and preparing to leave. We were welcomed inside and quickly offered a table. The waiter gave his recommendation of the quesabirria tacos. He knew his menu. Besides being knowledgeable about the menu, he was attentative as well. We both got the pineapple drink. I got the quesabirria tacos and my son got a bean and cheese burrito with rice on the side. He’s usually not the biggest fan of peppers, but he was impressed with how good the rice was. The food was amazing. I appreciated the service and the food. My son and I will be back soon! Thank you for an amazing first experience!

So, nowhere is perfect but if they could be, this would be the place. My favorite Mexican restaurant. The best hot sauce around. Prices are fair. Food is good. Everyone there is so nice. Atmosphere feels comfy-homey.
