One snowy evening in early January, my wife and I discovered Elise. Sitting at the bar, we met Alex, who made us two excellent cocktails, including a classic Manhattan. We then enjoyed two delicious starters, just the way we like them. We had an excellent vol-au-vent with snails and a classic beef tartare served with toast (there is a new trend of serving tartare with chips, which takes away all the refinement). For the main course, we enjoyed a succulent salmon in a creamy sauce, beautifully presented, as well as a classic French dish: steak and fries. But it was when I tasted their excellent rice pudding that I really lost my mind. A dessert for connoisseurs, of which I am one. Great wine list, sure bets. Elise is the work of an extremely talented 28-year-old chef. The best is yet to come! The final word goes to Vladimir, the manager, who has mastered the art of service. There’s no rush, just savoring the moment.

Have been 3 times to Elise over the past 10 months. I must say this is definetly a place that is cozy, very good service but for me its the quality of the food and how its sourced, prepared and executed.

My son actually brought me here as he knew Chef Nouk. As a Chef , I am certainly happy to have met him and getting to know him better. Every dish I’ve eaten here has always been excellent. From the bread, fried oyster mushrooms, cheeses, beef tartar, mussels, foie gras mousse, steak, sea bream & clams, scallops app and main, to the rich succulent bison cheeks. Every dish was a triumph…perfectly cooked, amazing sauces, properly followed techniques to interesting sourced ingredients. Chef Nouk has a great passion and vision and its shows brilliantly in his dishes. Its also evident he has a good brigade to support him.

I look forward to new menus, so I can try new dishes. Always love celebrating a special event here or simply just going out for a great casual meal and atmosphere. IMO he is definitely one of Ottawas new star Chefs.

Since Carben and Fraser café have closed this is a spot thats on our regular list.

A very well run establishment in all facets.

We went to Elise for valentines. We had to order from valentines menu. We couldn’t order anything from usual menu! For someone that doesn’t like seafood, there was literally only one option (hen). If we knew it’s not optional to choose from valentine’s menu, we would go somewhere else….The desert was nice. Ambient is good. Service was ok. Overall it was overpriced according to quality and quantity. I won’t go back.
Update: When we were reserving the place in January, noone mentioned that we have to order from valentines menu.

Elise is the best restaurant to hit Westboro in years! I ordered the champingnon appetizer, chou hispi roti and banana foster for dessert. They were all wonderful and cooked to perfection but I can’t get over how amazing the chou hispi was…. it was hands down the best vegetarian meal I’ve ever had, certainly worth a Michelin star. Thank you Elise for raising the bar!

I have been to Elise several times for brunch, but this was my first time trying their lunch menu and it did not disappoint.

I really appreciated the lunch format, with the option to choose either two dishes for $35 or three dishes for $40, which felt flexible and extremely reasonably priced for the quality.

While the menu is not overly long, there are plenty of well-thought-out options to suit different tastes, including vegetarian selections. The food was very tasty and offered great value for a lunch menu.

The decor and atmosphere are warm and inviting, and it was a lovely touch that the owner greeted us and introduced himself at the start of lunch service. Service throughout was consistent, friendly, and attentive, no complaints at all.

Overall, a fantastic lunch experience and a great spot I will happily return to and recommend.

The ambience of the restaurant is amazing, and the service was great. The food didn’t quite live up to the atmosphere but was alright and we still had a good time. The fried oyster mushroom though was delicious! Overall, it’s a nice spot for a lunch hangout or date night.

Elise is a lovely addition to the Wellington restaurant scene. The plates are beautifully designed and portions align with finer cuisine sizing. I had the duck breast dish and the duck was cooked perfectly. It was tender and paired with a delicious sauce. The rest of the dish was an odd pairing for my palette but perhaps more varied restaurant goers would enjoy the combinations served. I will say, whatever I thought was lacking with the meal was made up for with service. The staff were phenomenal, checking in with our table often, providing excellent personalized service. Our water was never empty, the servers provided excellent recommendations and the restaurant was so clean. A beautiful atmosphere and picture perfect background. A lovely addition and would definitely give it another shot.

Other important notes, they had a good selection of spirit free drinks and several parking spots available close by.

Everything was amazing. One of the best beef tartare that I have ever. The frog legs were so juicy and tender.

Came here for the first time on a Saturday and the place was packed. Very intimate and cozy atmosphere. The interior is chic and lit a bit darker for the ambiance, reminds me a bit of some of the NYC restaurants I’ve dined in especially their bar wall.

Service was efficient and friendly, waters were topped often and our server was always around for questions. Our table had gotten the bread, risotto, steak frites, scallops, salad e Nicoise and tartare. My friends enjoyed their mains and everything came out around the same time. The tartare was really good you could taste all the flavours of the capers, anchovies etc. and they gave you a good portion of bread crisps with it. The tuna Niçoise salad could have a slight improvement to the dressing. I love that the tuna was super fresh and just lightly seasoned so you can taste the fish but the greens portion had no taste other than olive oil, even more of a hint of salt and pepper or some infused olive oil would have made the dish better. The bread and butter were good but it is $7 for it whereas some French places just offer free bread.

The drinks were amazing. Great price for the presentation and alcohol content. I had fallen in love with one of the cocktail glasses and the owner was kind enough to let me know exactly where to purchase it and to take a picture of the glass so I could ensure it was the right one when I ordered it. I had been looking everywhere for a ribbed cocktail glasses that was lightweight and was so happy when they helped me find where to order it.

Would come back again!
