We enjoyed lunch here on a rainy Antwerp day. The interior of the restaurant is unique as many others have noted. It was a warm and inviting place to eat. The food, stoofvlees and vol-au-vent, was good, not outstanding. The home blond brew was very good and served generously.

They have quite the menu for both beer and food.

The service was excellent. Our server was friendly, helpful and efficient.

We recommend making reservations.

Greetings from the sunny Philippines!
Total gem! The vibes here are so unique and the food was 10/10. Easily the best beers I’ve had so far. Plus, the staff are super sweet and tourist-friendly. Seriously amazing! ✨

Restaurant Elfde Gebod in Antwerp is unlike any place I’ve ever visited – it’s not just dinner, it’s a full-on holy experience!

Housed in a historic building right next to the Cathedral, the restaurant is famous for its incredible religious-themed décor. Every corner is filled with statues of saints, biblical reliefs, candles, stained-glass elements, and sacred artwork. Walking down the stairs feels like entering a hidden chapel-turned-brasserie. The atmosphere is warm, dramatic, and wonderfully unique – the photos barely do it justice.

The beer and drinks selection is heavenly (pun fully intended ). They have a fantastic range of Belgian beers and other drinks to explore, which adds so much to the overall experience. If you love trying different brews, you’ll feel blessed here.

Food-wise, we were very impressed. I had the Almighty Vol-au-Vent, and it was absolutely divine – beautifully creamy with chicken that had an amazing, tender texture. Rich, comforting, and perfectly executed.

We also ordered the “Grilled by the Gods”, a tender and juicy cut of beef grilled to perfection. It was served with crispy Belgian fries and a fresh chicory salad that balanced the richness beautifully. The choice of pepper sauce or mushroom sauce is the perfect finishing touch – indulgent, flavorful, and exactly what you want with a great steak.

As a holy starter, we shared the shrimp croquettes, and they were excellent – crispy on the outside, packed with flavor on the inside.

One of the loveliest surprises was the 14-question game at the table. Such a thoughtful touch! It’s perfect if you’re on a date or out with someone you care about – it sparks meaningful and fun conversations while you wait for your food.

To top it all off, the live music adds so much character and warmth to the evening. The whole place has an incredible vibe – cozy, atmospheric, slightly theatrical, and completely memorable.

If you’re in Antwerp and looking for something different, atmospheric, and genuinely special, Elfde Gebod is a must-visit. A blessed evening from start to finish! ✨

Go for the “holy experience” deco. Feelings like dinning you’re dinning in a chapel. Menu items are also given a fun biblical twist names. Food was generally tasty and tasty. We had the monk soup, trinity trio, local chicken and mushroom dish etc. Gets abit crowded and the services is abit slower then. Otherwise its a good recommendation.

Great experience in downtown Antwerp. We had a great steak and ale stew and the baked haddock. The staff was very attentive and engaging. We were fortunate that they had a live musician in the bar playing some great music. The setting is a bit quirky with a cathedral theme, fun for me but might be a bit sacrilegious for a devout believer…just saying!

An amazing building and interior space. The food was plentiful, looking and tasting great.
Very good value for money at this location next to the Cathedral.
The only negative is that service was slow with is needing to catch the staffs eye and then ask for service a couple of times.

Otherwise recommended.

The interior is really cool and atmospheric, the menu is also creatively composed.
Food was pretty good.
The service however is absolutely horrendous. They forgot we ordered and we had to wait an hour for the starters. They apologized and gave us a drink on the house but then we had to wait another 20 minutes for the check.
Don’t go there if you haven’t got the patience for slow and incompetent service.

This restaurant is so quirky and unique. It’s very old and Biblical. The name translates to “Eleventh Commandment”. Good drinks and good food with a great environment for a change!
