The chicken pot pie was also good. While the filling inside was your regular chicken pot pie filling, the pastry on top was super flaky and not too heavy, which I find to be a problem with many chicken pot pies. The sweet potato fries were surprisingly good too.
Huge shoutout to the bread pudding. They serve it warm, and it was really moist. I usually dislike raisin and rum flavored things, but the rum and raisin flavor on the bread pudding was just right. The serving portion was also huge, and it would definitely take at least 2 people to finish it.
Our server was also super super nice. If I could remember his name I would give him a huge thank you .
My only complaint would be that the air conditioning was rather weak. Granted, the temperature outside was 101 F, and it was really crowded inside, so I understand why it would be hard to keep the restaurant a cool temperature. But, by the end of the meal I was sweating. All in all though, it was a great experience, and I would definitely come again if in the area.
You can tell he really cares about making sure guests have a good experience. He definitely helped make our meal even better. If you go to Elephant & Castle, ask for Rashaad, you won’t be disappointed!
The menu offers a fantastic mix of classic pub favorites and contemporary dishes. I highly recommend the fish and chips — crispy, flavorful, and authentically British — as well as their juicy burgers and hearty shepherd’s pie. Their beer selection is outstanding, featuring a great variety of local brews and international favorites. For those who prefer cocktails, their bar staff crafts excellent drinks that perfectly complement the meal.
The second time, I came with my husband. We ordered the “wee pie flight” as an appetizer. It was fun to try all the pies. Surprisingly to us, we loved the leek and potato pie the best. It was creamy and rich and delicious. I didn’t love the chicken pot pie or the beef and mushroom pie–both were interestingly spiced–but they were alright. I was already a fan of the shepherds pie.
I ordered the Sunday pot roast and my husband ordered the chicken bacon sandwich. I was a little disappointed that the seasonal veggies were just carrots that resembled frozen carrots in taste and texture. But the potatoes were good, the Yorkshire pudding was a fun experience, and the meat was alright.
My husband said his sandwich was dry, but he dipped it in the horseradish sauce that came with my meal, and he liked that.
We had a lot of leftovers. This was a lot of food. Overall, a fun experience in a cool atmosphere.
