Did their breakfast burritos in the AM. Interesting setup. No real drive through, but they get your order via walkie talkie and a few workers under a tent. It was pretty quick. The burrito was decent, not the best, but not terrible.

After bragging to coworkers of how good this restaurant was…. I was real disappointment this morning. A coworker and myself went to have breakfast. Was there three days this week for breakfast with other coworkers. I asked for a Menudo. When I got my food, I went to put the condiments in my Menudo, the whole crushed pepper jar poured into my Menudo. I mean everything that was in that crushed pepper jar (It was full), in my Menudo. Most of that went down to the bottom of the bowl. The cap was not closed correctly, I guess when filled by staff. I asked for another one. Waitress took it, hand it to the cook. Cook scrapes crushed pepper out from top and sends it back to me. Well, that was the most spiciest Menudo I had ever had. I was drenching in sweat at 9:30 in the morning. My blood pressure, sky-rocketed. You all know where most of the pepper went, right? Straight to the bottom of the bowl. Instead of sending a fresh bowl out, he feeds it back to me. I only ate about a quarter of that bowl. I am a true believer of do not argue with the people that handle your food, why, because never know what they can do to the food that they’re returning. Overall, the food is great. The front staff is great. The cook and kitchen staff, they need to get replaced. Never again am I returning to this location. They still charge us for that. No matter how good the food is. I can still feel it in my stomach, not to mention in the rear.

I pre-ordered red tamales, when I went to pick them up. I was told no red tamales were available, even though I ordered a day earlier. I was given cheese and green chili tamales. Which honestly only upset my stomach. This is the 3rd time I’ve tried to get red tamales from this place only to be disappointed. They should not have them on their menu if they cannot deliver. I finally learned my lesson and will not return to this disappointing restaurant.

First time eating here. Tried all the tacos and they did not disappoint. Also tried the flautas which are to die for. Hamburger was huge and delicious. And their sopa de fideo took me back to my childhood in Mexico and made me feel warm inside. I was greeted with a smile and the servers were amazing. Clean restaurant and just all around highly recommended! So many other items on the menu I still want to try so I’ll definitely be returning.

We went to El Zarape on South Federal tonight, we hadn’t been in a while, it was terrible!!! There were only 2 tables in there, it took forever to get our food, waitress was clueless, didn’t write anything down and messed it all up. I got Fajitas with chicken, steak, shrimp and pork. It was dry as a bone, the shrimp was shriveled up and overcooked and stuck to the hot plate, the chicken was dry and the pork was a dry pork chop that wasn’t even sliced. My husband had enchiladas they were ok. We had to ask for chips and salsa, waitress never came back to check on us and I had to go up and ask for a box and our check. We won’t be back, so disappointing and spent $70!!!

The most disgusting food we have ever had in YEARS!!! Food was full of oil and no favor what so ever! Hardly any meat. Also heard other people complaining about same thing. AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COST!!!!

Always great service and kind gals working. The BREAKFAST burritos are Awesome!!!! Affordable and delicious, they will make you want to throw the current Santiago’s burritos directly in the garage. All the food I’ve had has been great. I can promise you won’t waste your time with Santiagos after having these.

I used to really enjoy this place—the food has always been solid. Unfortunately, the service has become very inconsistent depending on who’s waiting on you. Sometimes they even forget to bring chips and salsa or parts of the order if you order sides. They are also bad at serving refills they make it feel like a mission, It wasn’t even that busy—only 2–3 tables and two servers—but still had to flag someone down.
The food still tastes good, and this place could be great if they worked on the service. I used to be a regular here, coming 1–2 times a week, but the inconsistency has really pushed me away. I hope they make some improvements, because I’d love to come back.
