Great ‘hole in the wall’ Mexican food restaurant. Every item on the menu is authentic and delicious. If you are looking for real deal Mexican food, visit El Zarape! The table salsa and tostadas are fresh and plentiful. My Gordita plate was just right, not too big, not too small. The masa cooked evenly to just a light crisp, ground beef with potatoes, lettuce, tomatoes and cheese stuffed in but not crowded. Refried beans topped with cheese and Mexican rice compliment the dish perfectly. Great and friendly staff, always greet you with a smile. Clean dining area. Bonus that the restaurant honors Vietnam veterans, wonderful momentos throughout the place. So, go treat yourself!

This place is such a beautiful place. The people that work here are so genuine and their heart is giving people the best food possible and they’ve done that. And it’s nice if you’re a regular, they sort of they remember you. Beautiful place I would suggest it strongly. If you want to treat come here. I love this place and pray for it. Peace.

My wife and I stopped by for brunch and It was good. I ordered the flautas and my wife ordered the huevos rancheros. Everything was delicious, well the rice could use some improvement, other than that very satisfying.

Solid visit. Fajitas were awesome, and no issues with service. Definitely a spot for veterans, and close to the buffalo solider gate. I’d recommend stopping by, solid 8/10.

I was reluctant to write this review. When I eat out, I take many things in consideration: the location, the ambiance, the customer service and the food. I have to have ALL of these things in order to give 5 stars. That being said, we had a little trouble finding the location, as we are visiting here. Once inside, the decor was a little overwhelming for me. I completely understand paying homage to our military. Quite a few of my family have served over the years, including in the Vietnam War, so I get that. But again for me, it was overwhelming. We were not greeted immediately, so we were unfamiliar with the protocol; are we to wait to be seated or find a seat and wait? So we sat down. The service was friendly and prompt. The chips and salsa were really good. I no longer eat meat, but not a vegan, so I ordered the bean and cheese enchiladas. This is not on the menu, but they made it for me. The meal was really good and the red sauce was excellent. Not sure if our server was in training, she looked like she was 11 or 12, but she did an amazing job. She made sure we had water and kept coming back to see if we needed anything. (Better than some server that have been doing this for years!)

Upon arriving no one greets you so i waited to be seated or told to sit anywhere for ten minutes and nothing so i decided to place a to go order

Waited 20 minutes for 1 bland barbacoa torta with more beans and onion than meat
Salsa bland as well

Unfortunately nothing about this place is at least mid
From unfriendly inattentive staff to food disappointing
Place was not even half full

Maybe it was an off day but will not return

The carne asada tacos are a must have. Lots of flavor and just the right amount of food. I have never had a baked potato with tacos but it works! It’s a family owned restaurant with lots of character. The two young men running the place were very respectful and attentive. I went to the location close to the airport and I really enjoyed the food. They did take a while to get me my food but I would think you expect that if you want fresh delicious Mexican food.
