FRESH ingredients and everything was clearly made from scratch (even the tortillas!) The flavors were so full that it beats any Mexican food I’ve had in South Philly and makes it worth the drive. Also, the service was phenomenal and the place looked sparkling clean. Definitely be back soon!

We’ve been driving by this spot for a couple years. I’ve read countless positive reviews. Tonight a table for 6….all neighbors. BYOB Margaritas .
These folks brought top notch food out of their kitchen. What a delicious treat.
Highlights include:
El Volcan Especial for 2 appetizer platter.
We shared this along with chips and salsa.
Burrito with Red Sauce
Burrito with Green Sauce
Encebollado with steak, grilled onions, queso and avocado .
The Showstopper..
El Volcan Especial Dinner for 1 or 2
Served in a flaming hot molcajete with chicken, chorizo, steak, shrimp, cactus, & cheese in guajillo sauce. Served with rice and beans.
You’ll be transported.
Dessert Tonight were Churros with Chocolate and Flan. Both were perfect.
Service is friendly, attentive and helpful navigating the menu.
El Volcan is not fancy. The dining room is simple, clean and spacious with tables and booths.
The food may very well be the best Mexican in our area.

I love this place. Currently dreaming about the nachos. Portions are huge.
Update: Went for New Year’s Eve with my husband and my brother in law, who was blown away by this amazing food. The pictures don’t do it justice. We had free margaritas, nachos, ceviche, 3 types of tacos, and quesadillas. The nachos and ceviche are amazing, I’d go back and recommend this place just for them alone! The tacos were also good, I just wish they had some type of signature sauce to give them an extra flair. Quesadillas are nice and very cheesy. The other times I’ve been here I’ve had the chicken enchiladas with mole sauce. They are still at the top of my entrees list. Our serve Ismael was very sweet and attentive. My husband and I don’t like going to restaurants but we absolutely love this place!

Authentic experience. Friendly staff. Great food. The portions and presentation were great. I really enjoyed the fajitas. Other meals were also really good. The only complaint was that the rice was only okay.

Not the best Mexican food.. maybe it’s better if you dine in. Take out not so great. Everything was packaged really nice but looks can be deceiving. I was really shocked that they were able to wrap a big burrito like that. Many times you go to restaurants when you get big burritos and they just fall apart this one did not but I still did you do with a fork and knife. The burrito itself wasn’t that great had more rice and beans than actual steak. The steak didn’t taste that great either. My quesadilla with Nopales. Tasted all right. The salsa are pretty good pretty spicy which I like. Overall I don’t think I will be going back to this place but it was worth a shot. I normally do not eat this late either.

Nice family owned restaurant with great authentic food and fast service. The prentation of each is well conceived and looks very nice. The chips with salsa and fresh guacamole was excellent. The tacos carnitas were some of the best in the area. The carnitas had a bit more fat than I prefer but that probably enhanced the flavor. I saw the burritos served to another table – they looked huge. The tacos were moist and flavorful – nothing overcooked or dried out. I will definitely be back to try more menu items. I highly recommend giving this place a try.

Great food in a small overlooked place . Service was great and prices were affordable. Will be back very soon. Ate tacos al pastor and tilapia. If you ask the table can get 1 free margarita. Ismael was our waiter and was very polite and friendly. Great place and not crowded

I bought six tacos with beans on the side of each and one side of guacamole. It was $30 for six tacos and then they charge me a dollar inconvenience fee whatever that is. I think it was for ordering online? And then there is a spot for a tip? Are you kidding me? I get it home and there’s one small container (supposed to be 2 orders) of beans for five dollars so that was disappointing. And would it kill you to add some chips when you’re paying $5 a taco.? The Food itself was actually really really good. The hot sauce was excellent. I was basically one container of beans and one less inconvenience fee away from giving it five stars. I guess Everything is super expensive now.

I really enjoy this place! Prices are great, portions are large, and the staff is very informative. Great for those who are unfamiliar with Spanish food. Make sure you save room for dessert!
