Meaty bliss, and the price compared to ordering 3 individual meals, amazing. The atmosphere is nothing to write home about and praying at the takeout counter was what anyone would expect, but the person who took our order for right to preparing our food.
We managed not to arm wrestle over the last rib.
They sell pretty much everything by the pound (or half pound). Roast pork. Fried pork. Ribs. And chicken – chicken is sold by the half chicken. It all looked so good so I got a pound if each (for 2 people). More than enough food. Also had sweet potato and plantains. All of the food is good. Every. Bit. Of. It. I loved the ribs and roast pork the most. There are rice and beans and yuca which I did not try. They also have (I only know it by what its called on another island) pudding, but I dont care for that.
I came back 3 days later and got just the ribs and fried pork (they didnt have roast pork thst day). Still very happy. I think its all very affordable and for the quality and amount of food its better than going to a restaurant. This will 100% be a stop for me everytime I’m there.
They also have drinks there (alcoholic and non) so its really a one stop shop. There are tables on site to sit at if you want to eat there. Again its right off the highway so don’t expect it to be some quiet romantic place – this isnt that. Its 100% worth a visit if you are passing by or can get to it.
$10 minimum for credit card payment is a stupid rule. My total was $9.90 & they couldn’t do the card unless I bought another product.
The arroz with gandules is bland tasting & needs more flavor. I have had better Puerto Rican food in the mainland United States .
The bathroom does not have electricity for lights & there is no hand soap or sink water, so the people touching our food is probably contaminating our food.
There is trash, napkins, plastic wrappers & styrofoam plates in the eating area. MAYBE INSTEAD OF DANCING & PARTYING IN THE KITCHEN/SERVING AREA, THEY SHOULD CLEAN UP THE EATING AREAS FOR THE GUESTS.
There was loud music playing and you had to stay a few feet away from the counter, separated by a large metal pole railing, so it was very difficult to order because of the sound and distance.
