The parrillada plate was really good one of the best I’ve tried in Laredo! The beans were amazing Mexican style beans, the tortillas were really good. They also gave a nopal part of the parrillada plate ! The salsas are always spot on!
The complaint is that it took a while for a server to come check if we need a refill. Also the chairs were really uncomfortable….

El Venado is straight
From the moment you walk in, the vibe is welcoming and authentic. The food is fresh, seasoned perfectly, and served hot every time. The tacos are packed with flavor, the plates are generous, and you can taste the quality in every bite.
The staff is friendly, fast, and make you feel like family. Service is on point and the atmosphere is comfortable whether you’re there with friends or bringing the whole crew.
If you’re looking for real flavor and great service, El Venado delivers every single time. 5 stars without a doubt!

It’s an okay place to stop for a quick bite, waiter takes a while to attend you……food I ordered was cold, aguachile was flavorless….out of 5 ribs only 2 were hot an perfect. Wouldn’t go back!

Came for the bacon wrapped burrito. But was blown away by the chicken soup (caldo de pollo) and the Tampiquena Plate. The soup is award winning (in my mind). The Tampiquena was phenomenal and left me with lots of leftovers to take home. You won’t be disappointed. For those looking for gluten free, I’m not sure they have a dedicated fryer for the chips. The server helped me to easily navigate the menu to find something that would work.. also, the freshly made corn tortillas are amazing.

I ate here on the recommendation from the person at the front desk at the hotel during a work trip June 2024 (clearing out phone and still had these photos). I did like the salsa but the chips were extremely hard. I thought the food was a little bland. It wasn’t bad mind you, I was just expecting more being so close to the border. I see other reviews where people had a better experience. Maybe I was there on an off day. I was at a taco truck the next day (see my review of it) that was absolutely everything one expects in Mexican food.

We’re down here in beautiful Laredo TX. If you’re reading this stop and visit this restaurant. Authentic Mexican food at a great value. The tortillas are 3000% better than anyplace you’ve been to before. My favorite Mexican food joint now has some serious competition. Try the Melon Aqua fresh sauce (for all us pale types)

Probably the best Mexican restaurant in town. Eggs over medium perfect. Barbacoa outstanding. Fried potatoes with chorizo bits like nothing I have had before. Little to no grease with everything. Flour tortillas impeccable. 4 salsas with chips have great flavor and heat. Big menu with all the border favorites. Also items I am unfamiliar with. Everything very soft. Very helpful and friendly waitresses all with a smile. Very nice interior with great color. Fair prices with big portions but orange juice was $7.99. A true Laredo treasure with food not found away from the US/Mexico border in US. Even serves beer.

I ordered Caldo de Pollo, but they accidentally gave me Caldo de Res. I don’t mind since I enjoy both, but I know not everyone feels the same, so please be more careful next time. I placed my order through DoorDash.

Came with coworkers and tried a little bit of their food. The big giant burritos are good but the meat in the enchelada and the skillet plate seemed tough and as if cooked the day before then reheated. No flavor. Maybe just an off day? The service was great though.
