Checked this place out for the first time and it was decent. Loved the atmosphere with hand painted murals on the cool looking chairs. Service was exceptional and the food was good. Tried the steak tacos with cilantro and onion which I enjoyed. Chips and a side of guacamole is one of the best versions in my opinion. My girlfriend did not like the corn tortillas but loved the pork and steak flavored tacos. Her daughter tried the taco salad and absolutely loved it. Overall it was good and would recommend it.

I am visiting McHenry for work and will be in town a lot during the next few months. I was looking to find some quality Mexican food in the area and this was an absolute success. I just finished eating my carry out order from El Vado and had to share my experience.
Upon entering I was immediately greeted and taken care of by a very friendly and helpful staff member (I did not get his name but the receipt says Aleksy so I am assuming that was him).
I placed an order for a steak burrito dinner to go and a side of chips and salsa. I didn’t realize that Mondays were burrito dinner night ($9.99 as opposed to the usual $14.99). Food came out quick and hot. I got back to my hotel and enjoyed every bite. It’s a huge portion of food and a great deal regardless of the day you go but definitely on Mondays. The chips and salsa were also good and fresh.
The vibe inside the restaurant was nice. Dimly lit, lots of booth seating or table seating, good music, great food and great people. I will be back.

Bottom Line, if I’m paying for food I want it to be edible.
I Ordered the Steak Fajita Quesadilla.
It didn’t have any steak, just green onion with a sliver of meat.
The rest of the meat was piled in 1 corner of a slice of quesadilla.
The beans were cold and taste watered down. Which didn’t mix well with the bland cold rice.
I will say.
The service is nice and the drinks are plentiful.
Just need to slow down and focus on serving good food.

Our favorite restaurant! We always come for taco Tuesday cuz the tacos are $1.99 everything is so delicious. The guacamole is fresh and it’s the best I’ve had! The tamales are so hot and flavorful, definitely recommend! The staff is kind, they know us now since we come in every week

This restaurant has the best food. Our server Aleksy was so kind and he is so patient when we order over the phone! Great customer service, outstanding food. They will recommend specialties. If you don’t like spicy food, they will accommodate you. The food is so tasty!!!! Highly recommend.

We had the chicken and steak fajita special for $12.99 each. Holy guacamole!! IF YOU HAVEN’T BEEN, RUN DON’T WALK. Some of the yummiest in all of McHenry County. People were super friendly and attentive. Highly recommend. Daily specials are affordable, yummy and plentiful.
