We stopped at the El Tovar Cocktail Lounge for a late lunch after walking along the rim of the Grand Canyon. We were greeted right away and seated without any delay, which was appreciated after being outside for a while. The lounge sits inside the historic El Tovar Hotel, and the atmosphere reflects that—warm, comfortable, and a nice contrast to the crowds and weather outside. It’s an easy place to relax and take a break while still feeling connected to the park.

We both ordered IPA beers, and they hit the spot. My girlfriend ordered the beef and pork chili and said it was good and satisfying. I went with the beef sliders and fries. The sliders were flavorful and well put together, as shown in the photo, and I had no complaints there. The fries were fine but pretty average, nothing special. Our waiter was attentive without hovering and made the experience easy and enjoyable.

Overall, this is a solid option if you’re already at the Grand Canyon and want a comfortable place to sit down, have a drink, and get a decent meal without leaving the park. It’s a good fit for people looking to unwind in a historic setting with reliable service. If you’re chasing standout food, this may not be the highlight of your trip, but for atmosphere, location, and a pleasant break from the trail, it does the job well.

I’m surprised that (as of when we went) the rating was only 3.3. My wife and I visited early Feb and it was stellar. A young guy with dark hair (forgot his name) was our waiter; he was friendly, helpful, and attentive. Beef sliders and lobster rolls are recommended. Oh and if you don’t get the apple strudel al-a-mode you’ll regret it for the rest of your life. All in all it’s exactly what you look for in a historic lodge.

This was a perfect place to get a small bite after hiking around the rim of the Grand Canyon. We tried the canyon sunset drink, truffle fries, slider trio, Ceasar salad, chocolate cake and lobster, and shrimp quasidilla. All of the food was Devine. The atmosphere was laid back and relaxed. Unfortunately, the service did lack a little enthusiasm and was a bit inattentive. However, we had a small problem with a dish, nothing terrible, but the manager Destiny was extremely apologetic and offered to cover the meal for us, which was completely unexpected and appreciated.

We didn’t order any food here. The cocktails were fine. The lounge is really small and cannot accommodate more than people. Even though there were seat available we were told that the lounge is full and only bar seating is available. I am guessing that those seats were reserved. We liked the feel of the lounge. The drinks were fine. The best part is that it is right next to the rim. So you sit out side you can enjoy the view of the canyon.

I cannot comment on the food as didn’t eat here. Service was appalling though, as I write this emotions are still running high, as my husband ordered my cocktail at the bar, I found a seat and waited, (as per photo). I was then asked by a dark haired lady (hair tied up) to remove myself from the area and drink in the reception area as it was table service only, even though I had ordered at the bar. When my husband asked the bar tender what the policy was, he knew nothing about why I had been evicted. Maybe she was having a bad night? What I can say for sure is this is the worst experience encountered on the 10th day of our American road trip. She should be ashamed of the way she spoke to a paying customer. I hope management read this and deal with in the appropriate way

Was looking to dine at the El Tovar restaurant, but no way to get in without a reservation for peak season. Was a little hesitant when sitting inside the lounge and read the reviews. Turn out the foods were great, server were very nice and attentive. Guess they shares kitchen with the main restaurant, except you will not get the steak in here. Every dish was tasty, the apple pie in the end was delightful and delicious. Had to order a second, you cant skip that!

The view of the Grand Canyon was okay. The food was good. The service was adequate. I think where this lounge really shines is its decor and atmosphere. Reminiscent of a ski lodge. Great soundtrack helped create a relaxing atmosphere. There are not many options at the Grand Canyon.. it’s def worth checking this place out if you made a day trip

Great service, great atmosphere, amazing views, and delicious cocktails. It’s not cheap, nor is it fine dining — but what did you expect?? Highly recommend the pork sliders, the brandy cider, and the caramel bourbon bon bon.

We were seated promptly, but service was generally slow, especially between ordering food and receiving it.
First cocktail was a seasonal sour which was honestly quite bland (I suspect the bartender didn’t make it right). Our waitress was kind enough to swap that out for a different, simpler cocktail which was fine.
The food was fairly disappointing. Crispy pork belly that was drowning in an overpowering barbecue sauce. Beetroot tartare that tasted of nothing except mustard. The vegetarian chili was a passable bowl of chili, but the cornbread muffin was sad.
Overall, we had much better food for cheaper prices (though with less atmosphere) at the Yavapai lodge, which is run by a different concessioner

We had lunch here since we could not get a table at the main restaurant because we didn’t have reservations. This is a first-come first-served place next to the main restaurant entrance. There is a limited menu, but the foods very good. The service is friendly, helpful, and attentive. The area is small, but very cozy and warm. This is a great alternative to the main restaurant which requires a reservation (weeks or months in advance). We waited 10 min and got a table. Highly recommend this place.
