We’ve had El Toro quite a bit over the past year, 50% of the time doing a take out order. The price for the Burrito Ruletta according the takeout menu they provide is 11.95. We put in our regular order of 2 of those to go. My husband returned home confused as the total price was 33.69. That’s 16.84 per meal. We thought well, with inflation and everything maybe they increased their prices, but yikes that’s a big jump. Well I hopped on door dash as they do use that service and lo and behold, the B.R. Is actually only $10.24 on there. We could have had it delivered for a total of $23.09 and saved $10.60!! So we had planned to call about the pricing tomorrow. BUT then we opened our meals and find out not only were they missing ingredients all together, but the burritos were about a 1/5 the size as they’ve always been. Their burritos in the past have made you full before you eat even half. In this case, the burritos were limp and empty. They had maybe a couple pieces of chicken in them all together, mine was basically all green pepper and my husbands all onion. They were practically empty vegetable burritos. We’ve loved eating their food, but to pay a significant increase and get 1/5 of the food, disappointing is an understatement.

Very quiet restaurant even on a busy Friday night. Parking wasn’t the best but the dealership next door had plenty! Biggest burrito and margarita I’ve ever had. I ordered a large and it was what I figured the monster size would be.

Excellent friendly service. Authentic Mexican cuisine. Extremely large selection of menu items. Homemade chips, salsa and Mexican ranch served tableside when you arrive. Amazing array of Margarita flavors. I had the mahi-mahi fish tacos and they were amazing and fresh!

We come to El Toro fairly regularly. I’d say once or twice every couple months for the last 8 years. Tonight was not a good experience. Idk if our waiter was brand new, but he was not made for the service industry either way. I get that this is an ethnic restaurant but when 80% of your clientele are not of the same ethnic group there should at least be some knowledge of how to understand and interact with your guests. We had to ask twice for our appetizer to be brought out after our meal. The margaritas we ordered were straight sour mix and couldn’t be finished. We had to ask for the chips and salsa to be brought with our guacamole. Our server never cqme back to our table after our meals were delivered. I had to hunt down someone to ask for a box. Again had to ask for the Togo order we put in when we ordered our entrees and then AGAIN had to find someone to ask for our bill. We left a tip on the table, (because I have been in the industry for 25 years and will tip even when I don’t believe it’s earned) and when we paid for our meal we said the tip is on the table and he put the change in his pocket and then couldn’t or wouldn’t understand we wanted our change. The food was amazing like it always is and I have left positive reviews for this restaurant in the past. I do realize that it’s been difficult to get employees after the last few years and always try to understand if someone is new or inexperienced, but this was just totally unacceptable and ridiculous service. Better training for employees at the very least needs to be a priority. Hopefully our next visit will be an improvement because this is one of our favorites places to eat out in shakopee.

Not certain what i ordered. But it was a massive burrito smothered in: queso & enchilada sauce; and filled with: beef. Shrimp and chicken and other stuff.

Before listening to my review, look at the other reviews and see how other people say similar things about the food and then not being willing to compensate for their mistakes. Anyways, me and my family loved this place the first 2 times we came in here and ate. The 3rd time, We had a woman waitress, short skinny dark hair, 2 of us ordered food and there were missing ingredients or things wrong with our meals, which happens mistakes are normal, BUT in my Quesadilla Not only was there a couple of ingredients missing but it was a thin tortilla with so much cheese so much greace so overpowering and messy.. we called her over and complained respectfullyand she was so rude it was pathetic how fast her attitude changed. So we talked to someone else and they said sense I tried it and there were a few bites missing that obviously meant that “I liked the meal” and refused to remake it or refund us. I took 3 maybe 4 bites. I took a bunch of the cheese off to see if it would taste better too. How can I know what it tastes like if I don’t try it? When she brought us the check she wouldn’t even look at us and dropped the bill in his hand and it dropped on the floor and she walked away then walked over to the group of men employees and they looked at me and my family and started laughing. My point, is that mistakes are made and people have bad days but it was completely unfair and embarrassing and rude. They’re polite until you point out their mistakes. And then treat you like an idiot. I’ve heard similar stories from others about this place. The food isn’t even that good, only one thing specific I loved to eat there, other than that it was gross and bland etc. And I’ve seen BUGS IN THE RESTAURANT. TERRIBLE family owned business and horrible workers !!

Pretty good food, but lots of it. Authentic and delicious! On the downside, it’s a bit spendy but damn worth it. You never really see it packed and that’s a good thing, it’s never loud and the service is never slow. Overall, I love coming here!

Unfortunately El Toro did not live up to our normal experience. Only half my meal was brought out and I had to ask for the rest of it. I also had ordered a Long Island when we ordered food. It was not brought out until after our food and I had to ask again. The long island was not made very good. It at tasted like coke. Never did taste any alcohol in it. Very disappointed to be charged $10 for an alcohol free Long Island. Not sure if our waiter didn’t know how to make it or if he was too distracted by talking with his friends and forgot what he was doing. Our waiter was never around and impossible to get someone to help us. A different employee dropped off our check. It was a highly disappointing experience.
