The empanadas were not good. They were supposed to be al horno but they look like they were fried. The empanadas didn’t have taste to any thing close to Chilean empanadas. They need more onions and oregano, the dough needs some work. The barros Luco presentation was great and the portion was huge, but the taste was 6/10. I will not return.

Since the original owner left the country, this place has declined at an alarming pace. When I asked for empanadas, the person at the front desk informed me, quite confidently, that they only make them on Fridays and Saturdays. Moments later, she looked genuinely puzzled when I pointed out that it was, in fact, Friday. ‍♂️

After consulting with someone in the back, she returned to say they could make them, but it would take at least 30 minutes, as they had mistakenly thought it was Monday. An impressive level of poor service and confusion.

I declined the wait and opted instead for an overpriced churrasco Barros Luco (over $23 after tax and tip), which arrived made with what seemed like ground meat and barely a trace of cheese (picture attached).

I couldn’t help but feel that President Ramón Barros Luco himself would have been deeply offended… likely turning in his grave at the state of his namesake sandwich. Needless to say, this is my last visit to the once great “El Timido.”

Since my wife returned from a few months in Chile, we’ve searched for good Chilean food and finally found it here! Churrascos that are so authentic, empanadas, etc etc etc!! There are lots of Chilean menu items that they ONLY SELL ON SUNDAYS!! We went on a Thursday and loved it, but if you want sopaipillas or many other things, they said its sundays only.

The food is great. The sandwiches are like 8 or 9 inches accross. This is half of my chacarero. Cazuela and other main dishes on Saturday and Sunday.

Great chilean food. I am Chilean and maybe a little biased but this place really makes me feel like I am back home with their food alone. Good service, great food and not too pricey (compared to other Chilean places)
