Solid family Mexican restaurant. Really liked the table salsa. Added a cheese dip appetizer which was creamy and flavorful. It was nice to have a bean dip option as well.
We had the chorizo and egg buritto, which was a nice option outside breakfast hours. I really liked the beef chimichanga and cheese enchiladas. The refried beans were a flavorful side.
My only complaint is that the plates came out so hot that it made eating right away a challenge. We had to wait longer than I liked for the plates to be a comfortable temperature to move around the table.
Overall a good lunch experience in Northfield. Would definitely return.

BIG portions! Super tasty. Great atmosphere. Friendly staff. This is a real local gem. I lived in the southwest for years and el Tequila reminds me of the family restaurants down there! I recommend the Tequila Burrito especially.

Food was really good with everything what we ordered. We enjoyed it a lot and it was one of the best mexican food we have eaten in Minnesota. There was not much waiting time and chips and salsa was served until food arrived. Interior is also cozy and has nice paintings, one of them really funny of a dancing couple.

Have you ever been seated in a restaurant and quickly realize you’re in the wrong section? Time has stopped here. There’s a lack of genuine joy in your being there as a customer, and you’re treated more as a bother. Whereas on the other side of the restaurant, there’s good natured banter between the staff and the customers.
I ordered the Pollo Loco. As you can see it was a bright plate, and that was about it. The guacamole was the best thing on the plate. The very thin piece of chicken sadly had little flavor. Maybe it just wasn’t their night? I’ll try again next time, and hope for a better dining experience.

We had a great experience here! We loved the food! Very large portions, reasonably priced, and it was served ready a d hot very quickly. Best of all the service was amazing. We showed up 15 minutes before close and they very generously invited us in to enjoy our dinner without feeling rushed at all. We will definitely be returning! Thank you!
