If you haven’t been to El Tepeyac Cafe, you are missing out! This place is a total Boyle Heights legend for a reason. The atmosphere is so authentic and old-school….it feels like you’re stepping back in time! ️✨

The staff is absolutely wonderful; our waitress was so kind and treated us like family. And the food? TO DIE FOR. The burritos are massive and loaded with flavor. Seriously, come hungry!

Highly recommend if you want the best vibes and even better food! ❤️

Tried this place for the first time.. OMG so delicious I had the beef taquito and we ordered chilaquiles and mini nachos big portions so filling and tasty .. only downfall is the wait time but that’s beyond their control definitely going back. ✨️

Locally recommended and had a line at the door a few tables deep the whole time. Portion sizes are big and the food was hot off the grill. COUNTER is 1st COME 1st SERVE so check it out if you don’t mind elbowing up to a new friend.

Always a favorite place to stop when im near downtown. Been going there since I was a teenager. Everything is exactly the same all these years. Will always be one of my favorites.

First time trying a Mexican breakfast, and this place has a high review on Google. I liked the breakfast burrito I had. It was big and satisfying. Other dishes looked great as well, though I didn’t try them. The chef/owner? was nice.

My parents used to bring me here when I was kid after visiting my grandma in City Terrace. Either the food has gotten worse or I’ve just had much better since the. I agree with one Review stating that the flavor in the meat is gone. I ordered the Chile Verde platter and let me tell you. The pork chunks were tasteless & lacking good texture. The last time I came a year ago, it was the same problem with the Chile Colorado. Meat was bland and dead. Salsa is ‘okay’ but definitely lacking. RIP Manuel, I remember when he used to greet us at the door when we came & went.

I had been wanting to go to this joint for several years and I finally did and it lived up to the hype. The food was great and at a great price! The atmosphere is awesome and the service is top-notch. I will be going back to this place in the future.

3.5 stars up to – for the size and taste, this place is better than average.

We came to this original Tepeyac Cafe location in Boyle Heights on a nostalgic whim. I recall coming here when Manuel would walk up and down the line to the entrance and offer (tequila?) shots to patrons! I have family from East LA and we do like this location.

For a Sunday morning shortly after 9:00AM their inside eating area was packed with customers. We nabbed an outdoor seating spot with no wait. We got Manuel’s special, which is a 5-pound burrito that serves up to 4 people. By default it is made with rice, beans, guacamole, lettuce, tomato, salsa, and pork. You can substitute other meats, and there is even a breakfast version if you want. There is no price listed on the menu, so I want you to know it costs $40. At $10 per person the portions are a decent value.

Service was quick, and the chips were crispy and fluffy and looked made there in-house. Manny’s special burrito tastes as good as I remember. This wet burrito is big-time comfort food and real filling. Believe it or not, my family has only ever ordered burritos. I should come back and give the rest of their menu a shot!

Came here from San Diego, and as much as I tend to overlook Mexican plates in Los Angeles, El Tepeyac was nothing short of amazing. My wet burrito was delicious with the steak melting in your mouth. Portions are extremely generous. I was only able to eat one half and the rest when I got back home.

There is a wait for the line but honestly worth the wait in the LA summer heat. Parking is located next to the store. Hoping to make this my place to stop when in LA.
