The El Tepeyac Restaurant is a hole in the wall located in East L.A Calf. As soon as you walk in, seems like you travel back to the past with 50s music playing in the radio. I ordered the Chile Colorado with mouth watering pork over red Chile. It is the best I’ve ever had (don’t tell my mother!) Great prices great location. Highly recommend this place.

I haven’t been to this establishment in decades back probably since the mid-80s. They had the Manny special a humongous burrito which they felt you couldn’t eat it by yourself and if you did it was free, in fact, they still have that special today .This place has been around a long time 60 some years. It has a lot of history with the Rojas familia in East LA. Today I stopped by and ordered a chili Verde burrito and a carne Asada burrito. Both were very favorable with just the right amount of chili in the chili Verde, good size burritos priced in line with other Mexican establishments. The service was courteous and friendly and we had our meal in no time. The structure itself is old but nice .They have indoor and outdoor dining with shade. There’s plenty of parking with the handicap stalls close to the front entrance. Go and try the challenge of that Manny special.Let me know how you did.

We drove out to El Tepeyac to have lunch. Got there about 10:30am. There were 3 open parking spaces in the lot. Went inside and sat down at a table. Were served chips & salsa . We ordered our meals and they were brought to our table in about 15 minutes. We ordered Taquitos with Guacamole. The Steak Picado Platter and sodas. Everything was delicious ! We only ate half so we got containers to take the rest home for dinner.

I ordered the chili relleno plate and chips. I was expecting a different type of cheese inside of the chili. There was an orange (cheddar type) inside of the chili relleno. I was a lot of food. I had enough left over for lunch the next day.

Arrived about 10:45 am and sat at a table inside no waiting.we order the Steak Picado platter, Taquitos and Guacamole. We were also served chips and salsa. Also extra Guacamole. Everything was served hot and fresh. We could only eat half and go containers to take the rest home. It is like stepping back in time where they care about what they serve and how they treat the customers. We have been going the for about 35 years and the service and quilty have always been great.

Read raving reviews about this place, honestly the service was good but the food is over rated. I ordered a tostada and what I got instead was a plate with what looked like someone had dropped a plate of food, scooped it up and served it to me. Where’s the tostada? Truly disappointed or just not my idea of authentic Mexican food. And they don’t have any prices displayed so this “tostada” was an excess of $15 add a agua de Jamaica.

I don’t have anything bad to say. The service is great. Those two ladies are on top of stuff. We may give it a second chance just so we can try something different from what we ordered to give a more informed opinion. Definitely an old school feel that I appreciate over the corporate cookie cutter feeling.
