El Tejavan I -40 East is a solid Mexican restaurant for a casual meal with good portions and consistent flavor. The chips and salsa came out quickly, and the salsa had a nice kick without being overpowering. My entrée was hot, well-seasoned, and served fast, and the portion size felt like a good value for the price range. Service was friendly and kept drinks refilled, even while the dining room was busy. It’s not trying to be fancy, but it’s a reliable spot when you want classic Mexican comfort food and a relaxed vibe.

Wonderful food. Toss a dart at the menu – you can’t go wrong ! Corn tortillas are better than most every other place I’ve tried. Larger too. Can get busy, and there can be a wait – but it’s worth it !

Stopped in on our way through Amarillo. The outside needs a bit of work, but don’t let that discourage you. Between the service and the food it was great. The front was small w/approx. 12 tables. I noticed there was a back room as well, but didn’t check it out.
The waitress was very nice and attentive. The food was also really good. We ordered the Chilaquiles Verdes Con Huevos, Asada Tacos & the Guiso Rojo. Also, the homemade tortillas were terrific. Very authentic. At first I thought the portion was so/so, but as I was eating I realized I could barely finish it. We will definitely be back.

Ordered 8 barbacoa tacos to-go and they were sooooo greasy. For $40 for some Tacos, I didnt expect them to be that greasy. They were not good, it felt like I was just eating a tub of grease and the grease made them soggy. Do not recommend.

Small place, but don’t let looks be deceiving. The food was hot and delicious, the waitress was great, the restroom was very clean 🙂 They also have a large dirt lot on the side for big truck/rv parking!

I’d like to start by complimenting the waitresses. They were very polite and very attentive. The place was very neat and clean and the fresh flowers on each table is a very nice touch. We started with drinks and we got agua fresca de piña. The equivalent of fresh squeezed orange juice but pineapple. It was refreshing. The food was amazing, I had been here before and both times the food has tasted so delicious. The chips were warm and the salsa was perfect. Tacos de Birria, and Fajitas de Trio are really good. The tortillas taste and have the texture as if they’re homemade. I definitely recommend you dine at El Tejavan!

This is our favorite Sunday spot! All waitresses are great, but one of our favorites is Cassandra. Some of our favorites to eat is the ceviche, menudo, camarones a la Diabla, carne asada with eggs, beans and papas, carne asada tacos, torta de carne asada, chilliquiles….you can’t go wrong! It’s so good!!
