This is a gem of a Mexican restaurant a bit hidden near the corner of Packard and Carpenter road (you can’t turn left into it directly when heading south on Carpenter). The menu options are great, the flavors are good (your family from Texas and Oklahoma will say it’s okay), the service is prompt and friendly, and the pricing is very reasonable with good portions. Plenty of room to dine in (we had some nostalgia as it was clearly a Pizza Hut in its former life) and your craving for this cuisine will be satisfied when you leave.

First time visit. Staff were very friendly, nice atmosphere, and good drinks. The chips and salsa was average. The food came out hot and it was just okay, although I do plan on another visit to try other dishes. I did not care for the guacamole, it was pretty bland.

The AC was not Working and it was 90° outside…and I had a jalapeño with my meal. That’s when I asked about the Air Conditioner!

We have been to this place a few times now. Food is very good and the price is reasonable (hard to find now a days). Service is quick. Nice little bar inside. Starting to get more popular. Hopefully, they keep the prices and food amount the same and don’t fall into the trap lime other restaurants (small portion/high price).

Luv this place. Have even been able to order off of the menu 1time and I must remember who that waiter was. Tacos are amazing, chips are always warm, salsa is fabulous. Prices are well worth the quality and size portion. This is a must try!!

Nice and friendly Mexican restaurant. The service was efficient and friendly. The food was very good. I had chicken and steak fajitas. Chips and salsa were free. There is a bar and they had a happy hour. Location had plenty of seating. Decor a little outdated

El Tapatio Taqueria proved itself to be one of the best Mexican Restaurants in Ypsilanti. This is a long review, but their quality deserves the recognition online.

This restaurant would be a 5 star if not for the initial reaction with the gentlemen seating us. He was very rude. Walked away before we could give our drink order. Come to find out he was the co-owner. But despite our initial interaction with him, overall the restaurant is an excellent addition to the Ypsilanti/Ann Arbor area. The food is delicious, the portions are a good size, and the cost is affordable. The menu is extensive, and somewhat appears to have the same menu items interspersed with different main dishes. Atmosphere is good for the family, and the eating area was clean. The waitress who took over was very nice and made our dining experience a pleasure. I would recommend this restaurant if you are looking for a good authentic Hispanic eating experience.

Very respectable actual Mexican food. They do serve more American food, but that’s to be expected. They have the usual meats (carne asada, pastor, chorizo etc) but not more “exotic ” ones. My friend who I went with loves lengua, but you can’t find it often (They really like cabeza, but good luck finding that around here. Same with my favorite sandwich, pambazos. Iykyk) I had “street tacos” (proper tacos) and my friend had the Yolandas enchiladas. They said those were quite good, but the chicken wasn’t marinated, or if it was it wasn’t long. (Slightly unfair comparison to San Marcos in Toledo. Best chicken around since El Rey burned) the carne asada and chorizo were tasty and well cooked, not tough as some places do. Nice staff and quite busy. Sorry i ate a taco before I took a picture.
