Good value for the money. The taste was okay, though not particularly impressive. Overall, a solid 4-star experience when considering budget-friendly.

Decided to stop by since it was right “next” door to the Goodwill, and I’m glad did! The restaurant wasn’t noisy or crowded, the service was prompt, the waiter was attentive, and the food was absolutely delicious!

The drinks were nice and strong, and, even though the plates look small, I ended up with a to-go box full (yes full) with delicious leftovers! The food was seasoned to close-perfection, to the point were I really didn’t need any salt! It’s definitely worth the visit!

As a first time visitor and a relatively new establishment, I rate El Tapatio 5/5 stars.
My wife and I were definitely not disappointed and we are always looking for new restaurants to try. I had hard shell beef tacos and she had the Chimichangas. We will definitely be back! The 2 things that I would like to see more of is spice/flavor in the taco meat and the chips and salsa. They tasted essentially unseasoned. Secondly, warmer lighting would be nice; the lighting is very stark. Service was good, but I likely would have order a second round of drinks if they were slightly more attentive.

We will return. Thank you.

We were seated promptly when we entered the restaurant. They had plenty of seating including booths, center tables and some space at the bar. We were given chips and salsa quickly after being seated. The salsa had a nice spice, just enough to add some heat but not so much as to cause my wife to not like it. Our meals were ready pretty quickly and everything was hot and fresh. The Pollo Loco had a great flavor and just the right amount of spice. Both of our portions were large enough that we have enough for lunch the next day, of course your mileage may vary. Parking is plentiful in the shared parking lot.

Stopped in for lunch with my son who’s going to school at UTC. He recommended it from previous visit with his girlfriend. They offer the kind of Mexican food that’s clearly designed with the American palate in mind, less fiery authenticity, more comfort and crowd-pleasing flavor. Still, it’s absolutely worth stopping in to try for yourself.

The portions are huge, and the plates are balanced nicely between protein and vegetables. The standout of our meal was the chorizo queso dip, perfectly creamy and rich without being overly greasy, with just the right infusion of chorizo flavor.

I went with the carne asada, which was good, though it didn’t quite pack the level of spice I was hoping for. Interestingly, the meat in my son’s burrito hit closer to that flavor profile I expected. Next time, I’m eyeing the birria to see if they can earn that fifth star.

Service was excellent; attentive, fast, and friendly. I didn’t try any of their margaritas or cocktails, but the bar looked well-stocked and inviting. All in all, El Tapatio delivers a satisfying meal in a relaxed, family-friendly setting.
