This place is a really nice trendy Mexican tapas restaurant. Not your typical Mexican restaurant. It’s good for date night or girls night out because the ambiance is fun but definitely different and special. It was a bit loud, perhaps due to high ceilings and having a full house, but we could still talk with our friends across from us. The service was attentive and very friendly. They were happy to give recommendations. The majority of the food was creative, delicious, and beautifully plated. The only reason I docked a star (would have been half a star if I could have) is because it’s definitely a little pricey once you start adding up all the various tapas and drinks. I got the seafood rice dish, which was absolutely amazing, and an beef empanada, which was good, but probably would not order again (a little small and skimpy in the filling). My friend got the garlic shrimp which was incredible and some tacos, which I also found small for the price but they said they enjoyed them. The alcoholic cocktails were also decently strong and delicious. Overall I recommend them, know you will be paying a little more but the food and ambiance mostly make up for the price tag. We skipped dessert here and headed to Modern Pastry.

This is a Mexican style tapas place but it misses the mark completely.
Drinks were not memorable and took about a half hour from ordering to receiving and to add insult into injury the drinks received weren’t what we ordered. They adjusted the bill to account for this.
The food was better than average but the serving size was tiny even for tapas but the presentation of the food was good. I wouldn’t mind the miniscule servings if the price was in line with the quality/taste of the food.
Usually in tapas, a dish is served that one can share amongst people but in this case the dishes came out randomly and some were not sharable. (You cannot share a taco the way it’s served here.. maybe they needed to be a little more creative). We were a party of 4 and even though we attempted to embrace the sharing the dishes came out so sporadically that at times one person was just eating alone.
People should enjoy food together and I understand the restaurant is new but if you can’t get that right then the dining experience suffers no matter how good the food is.(and unfortunately the food here was mediocre

Such a great place. Food is delicious and reasonably sized/priced. Not made to be overly complicated. Menu is not too big. Tacos, Ceviche, pozole, elote, guacamole- everything is great. Super cool ambience and great service.
Most Mexican places we go to are way too heavy on the salt. You can literally feel yourself swelling as you eat and then you feel terrible. Not El Tacuba. Everything is flavorful but light feeling.
Highly recommend

Came here twice and still obsessed. Food’s amazing and the vibe hits. Honestly… I’d pick this over Ba******a. Highly recommend the patacones and the seafood dishes!

Surprisingly disappointed with our experience given reviews and what I’ve heard. The portions were very small for the prices – perhaps they were meant to be tapas style but no one told us that and the prices/menu didn’t reflect that.
The plating, portions, and presentation were bizarre- to name a couple: octopus with saltine crackers straight out of the package (maybe I’m missing something about this? It came off as low brow for the atmosphere and price) a pile of guacamole served directly on top of the chips, and a huge plate for 2 lonely pieces of elote which didn’t even amount to one cob.
The quality was disappointing too: guacamole was heavily under salted, ceviche seemed to have pre cooked seafood in it, and the elote hardly had any cheese.
The drinks were probably the best part but they were just fine compared to other places we’ve been.
While the atmosphere was quite nice it feels like it made the meal seem worse because the food didn’t feel as elevated as the atmosphere did. With the food we ate we would have expected far cheaper prices and a more laid back/casual atmosphere.

We went in for a dinner with a group of friends. This place really surprised us all. Food and drinks were great. Bunch of us were vegetarian, they had quite a few options , we really enjoyed the sweet potatoes and mushroom tostadas and the enchiladas. Drinks and desserts were good. Service by Paulina was excellent. She was very attentive and friendly. The place has fun vibe! A must visit!

We love La Tacuba! The service is always friendly & the food is delicious. Some of our favorites are the grilled octopus, fish tacos, plantains, and beet salad. The drinks are also top notch! We are grateful for a spot like this in Medford!

This place is literally 5mins drive away from our place and I am surprised that I didn’t know about this place earlier . It’s one of the only few good restaurants in the area. We are vegetarians and thus we had very limited options on their menu, but ther server was really nice and she helped us understand the dishes which she could make without meat and offered us more options.
We tried their Ellote callejero in appetizers and it was delicious.
We tried their Jarochas Tortada and it was nice crunchy and light. It’s definitely good for just 1 person.
We had also ordered Planato macho but the chef I think accidentally added Meat in ours dish which was a little disappointing. Since we absolutely dont eat it but the server was really sweet she apologized a lot and offered the veg version of same dish and also veg empanadas on the house.
All these dishes are tapas style so you would need variety of dishes if you are really hungry.
Finally we tried their Berenjena A La veracruzana which was my favorite dish of the night. It was nice tangy.
The server said they I trying to add more veg dishes on the menu which will be really nice since their Beans also have meat fat. It would be nice to have atleast rice n beans not cooked in meat fat / broth. I also hope they add a few vegan dishes on the menu since a lot of people are now moving to vegan diet so it would be really nice to have some vegan options on the menu.
The reason why I am giving them 4 in food is because they have very limited veg/vegan options on the menu and I also feel the portion of each dish is not proportionate to the amount of money it costs. I hope they either increase the portion or reduce the dish cost a bit.

We previously lived in Medford and had hoped this restaurant would open before we moved but unfortunately we were already gone when they opened. We were lucky to stop in today and we were really pleased with the food, atmosphere, and service! We had some great fresh guacamole with chips and a fried plantain stuffed with cheese. Both were extremely delicious. My spouse had huevos divorciados and I had the pulpo jaqueton. Both dishes were extremely good …my octopus was especially good and cooked perfectly! If you’re near Medford, this restaurant is a must visit. You will not be disappointed!
