Music, food, decorative interior and a great view at the back windows of a nature area! Food is great, been here 3x now. Service is impeccable, and customers I’ve heard talk about coming for 30+ years! They remember regulars, spectacular these days.

We had a good experience here, the wait staff were very kind and helpful. I was actually pretty disappointed in the food, it didn’t seem up to par with other Mexican food places and even their other location nearby. I wonder if the kitchen was off that day because I have always had good memories eating here.

The service was great. Our water glasses were never empty and they were very attentive to our wants/needs. Food was good too and served quickly.

We haven’t been here in a couple years, and while it wasn’t the best food back then, we remembered it being decent and affordable so we wanted to give them another shot. That’s not the case anymore. A standard taco/enchilada plate with rice and beans will now run you about $18, and the cheapest menu options were about $15.

The salsa was tasty, which gave us high hopes for the food, however we were both let down when our plates came out. Everything was very bland. The chicken burrito was nothing but wet boiled chicken in a tortilla, smothered in runny enchilada sauce and so much cheese I had a stomach ache by the time I finished. The bean burrito wasn’t much better. The rice and beans were fine but didn’t have any flavor. Hate to say it, but you will get much better quality and value for your money at somewhere like Baja Fresh.

The service was friendly and quick. However, there was only one other group in there at the time, and the waiter never came to check on us after dropping our food off. I don’t think we will be back.

Had lunch here this week, my first time at this restaurant. So thrilled to find the type of Mexican food I grew up eating in L.A. Had the combination plate, enchilada and a crunchy taco with shredded beef. It came out very hot and fresh, not like places that throw your plate in the microwave. Everything tasted great and I had half leftover for a second lunch at home. The shredded beef in the taco was hearty and flavorful. The toppings were plentiful enough to spill out onto the plate. The enchilada sauce is yummy. If you were missing the melty, cheese-forward savory kind of Mexican food, this is it and I haven’t found it elsewhere in Portland Mexican restaurants. Docking half a star on service because a couple of other parties nearby seemed to get the wrong item but everyone was super kind and helpful. Surprisingly nice inside for a strip mall restaurant, and view of the wetlands for some tables. Parking was a bit limited. I’ll be back for dinner soon.

I order their food of the day today. Flautas! I love Mexican food and when I got home, to my surprise, the flautas were made out of flour tortillas. Seriously? This is an insult to Mexican food. Also, the rice was old and dry. I will never go back there again!

Stopped in here for dinner for the first time in 15 years. It’s in the back of an older strip mall. Decor/ building are a little tired and could use some updating.

We thought the food was very good, and the prices are still reasonable compared to other Mexican restaurants in the area.

Service was friendly, but a little slow. We weren’t crazy about their salsa. But overall the food and value won us over.

We’ll be going back!

We’ve had different stints where we visited this restaurant heavily over the years, and it’s proven to be a lasting favorite. Good service and good food. This captures the classical feel, the same type of places I used to visit in LA that had similar decor with straightforward classical Mexican-American food. They nail it, and their salsa is the best!! Also props for getting kids food out first!!

This place is the bomb! I moved here in 2011 and 10 years later the same people work here. Where else do you see that! Their salsa maybe too spicy for some but honestly there is no other like this. The staff is wonderful and the food is amazing. If you have one bad experience that will be the only one.
