I dont write reviews often went out of my way to log into my account to say stay away! Food is laughable, a 13 year old kid could make better food with a waffle iron. Pork sandwhich was incredibly dry tomato wasn’t close to ripe, bread was decent but plain, forgivable if anything else was redeemable but why not put butter on it when toasting to try and sneak some flavor in for cheap? Pork might aswell have been boiled yesterday than reheated in a microwave. I got this with BOGO deal and still feel like i got robbed. Will never even look at this restaurant again. Get a biggie bag or anything else if your tryna save a buck. Idk how places like this are even in business … also i got fries with my sandwhich which were cooked very well but no salt oh and they gave me like 8 fries total? Like why? felt so cheap and thats where you save money? The potato? The $15 is whatever just insane places like this are even able to make any money like try your own food

Forget about the times I’ve gotten yellow rice that was mush, or pernil that was far too oily and greasy.
I got sick from eating here because the server wanted to be sick while working with food, sneezing on herself while not wearing gloves, handling utensils and food while her nose keeps leaking. This 1-star comes from her audacity to give me attitude because I told her to wash her hands after wiping her nose, before serving my food. I ended up getting sick after that and I’m tired of not giving this place the reviews it deserves from my last experiences.
This place is open late, do not go at those times. The food and service is consistently awful. This picture is of pernil I ordered from here one night that was practically over 1/4 full of oily grease if I had left it untouched

Horrible Establishment

I ordered from this location through UberEats and my order was missing two sides of beans. I called the restaurant to see if they forgot them or if they could replace them. They put me on hold for several minutes and then hung up on me. When I called back, the woman I spoke with immediately tried to blame the delivery driver instead of offering any solution or even apologizing.
Customer service like that is unacceptable. Mistakes happen, but how you handle them is what matters. Instead of trying to make it right, I was met with attitude and rudeness.
Unfortunately, the food was subpar at best as well, so between the poor quality and the even worse customer service, I definitely won’t be ordering from here again. There are plenty of other places that actually care about their customers.

Not Worth the Price or the Hassle

My experience at El Sazon De Las Americas was underwhelming, echoing the sentiments of other disappointed customers I’ve seen online. For a $12 plate of pernil, I expected quality, but the food was merely mediocre. Considering you can easily find a tastier pernil lunch special for $8 or $9 at other local spots, the lack of any lunch special options here makes their pricing feel significantly overpriced.
Beyond the lackluster food, the service was truly frustrating. After paying and already including a tip, the paper bag provided immediately ripped. When I requested a replacement plastic bag, I was asked for more money for the bag itself—an incredibly petty and inconvenient charge after the transaction was complete. It’s a level of nickel-and-diming that speaks volumes about their customer-service priorities.
The employee interaction was also poor. While I can’t confirm the reason, the staff member sounded noticeably rude and impatient, which I suspect may have been because I was speaking only English. It added an unwelcoming layer to an already disappointing visit.
With other reviewers mentioning wrong orders, old/burnt food, poor communication, and general customer service issues, my experience with the mediocre food, rude service, and absurd bag fee doesn’t feel like an isolated incident. I won’t be returning; there are far better options available for authentic and affordable Latin cuisine.

I am beyond disappointed with my experience here last night. I remember years ago when El Sazón de las Américas was the hot spot for local Hispanic food, but it has clearly lost its touch.
We spent nearly $40 (including tip) on a delivery order that ended up straight in the trash. Here is a breakdown of the issues:
Pollo Guisado: It was absolutely inedible. The amount of oil sitting in the container was shocking, and despite the grease, the chicken was completely bland and lacked any real flavor. To make matters worse, it arrived at room temperature.
White Rice: The texture was terrible—hard and dry, as if it had been sitting in a warmer for hours.
Alcapurria: It was so dry and tough that it was actually hard to bite into.
It is a real shame to see a place with so much potential fall this far in quality. It’s frustrating to pay a premium price for food that isn’t even fresh or seasoned properly. Save your money and go elsewhere until they fix their kitchen standards.

Alright, folks, brace yourselves for my experience at this Dominican spot on Grove Street. First off, let’s talk ambiance: it felt like stepping into a time warp, and not in a good way. The place desperately needed a makeover, and maybe a good scrub while they’re at it.

Now, onto the staff – or should I say, the lack thereof? Not a welcoming vibe in sight. It’s like they were doing me a favor by taking my order. And let’s not even get started on the service – slow as molasses and about as pleasant as a root canal.

But wait, it gets worse. The coffee, supposedly their specialty, was an absolute disaster. The cortadito and cafe con leche tasted like they’d been brewed with dishwater. I couldn’t even finish them, and that’s saying something.

In a nutshell: terrible coffee, terrible service, and an overall experience I wouldn’t wish on my worst enemy. Save your taste buds and your sanity, folks – steer clear of this joint on Grove Street. No pictures of the coffee cos it was not worth it.

About the Dominican Restaurant:
This Dominican restaurant left much to be desired in terms of hygiene and customer service.

About the Experience:
Upon entering, we were taken aback by the unhygienic practices observed, with servers eating right at the counter where they serve customers. The staff also seemed unfriendly and unwelcoming.

The food presentation was disappointing, as it appeared pre-made and oily. Unfortunately, due to the poor attitude displayed by the staff, we opted not to taste the food. Despite this, I decided to try the coffee con leche with light sugar, which was decent but failed to salvage the overall experience.

In summary, while the coffee was satisfactory, the unsanitary conditions and unfriendly staff significantly detracted from the dining experience. This restaurant receives a two-star rating, as improvements are needed in both hygiene and customer service to earn a higher rating.

Small Dominican restaurant/cafe. Good quality food in big portions at a very affordable price for the downtown area. Coffee is excellent. The ambience is very reduced and crowded at times. Service is good overall. But, when they get busy they could be a little careless in the orders.

Food is ok but service is horrible. I was a customer 20 years ago and just started going back and the young ladies there are not friendly at all. I felt like they didn’t care if I bought from them or not. Asking for info on menu and prices was like pulling teeth. I almost apologized for interrupting their personal conversation. Sheesh! So forget about small talk or common curtesy. If you don’t care about all that, then go for it. But I’m about the whole experience. I did not feel like I was “home” again!

Just ordered from here yesterday and today. The food was fine yesterday. Now today, the bacon was missing from my order. Called to tell them and they thought my note said cheese and was only when it clearly said cheese IN eggs. Also found a hair in my food. Tried to talk to them about it and they claim the hair did not come from them. My hair is red. The hair in my food is black. Their customer service really sucks, and their food is inconsistent.
