I recently moved across the street and decided to try El Rodeo for the first time and was pleasantly surprised.I got the 2 tamale combo for takeout and was stoked to see that it came with chips and both medium and hot salsa. A great value at under $20.
I tried the beans first, and MAN were they good! So many Mexican restaurants pack a lot of flavor into their entrées but sidestep the beans and rice, and that is not the case for El Rodeo. The hot salsa wasn’t really hot but had lil’ kick and was one of the best salsas I’ve had in Anchorage.
As for the tamales… the flavor was BANGIN and they were nicely sized. As hungry as I started, I still ended up saving the second for later. My one critique would be that the masa and filling were slightly dry, but that wouldn’t deter me from ordering them again. I’d love to find out when they make them fresh and try them then.
Overall, I really dig this place and look forward to trying more. I also LOVE the vibe inside and can’t wait to come back soon to dine-in.

The food was ok. Except the complimentary salsa, the food was somewhat bland and my chili relleno was a bit sour. The tamale and enchilla were decent though.

So freaking good! 2 years of being in Alaska and I finally found authentic Mexican food. Seriously, its a must try for everyone! You definitely wont be disappointed. Staff is super friendly and the atmosphere was relaxing.

Chips and salsa on the table were great, we had to get more.
He got the Burrito de Asada burrito and I got the Chile Verde.
Everything was freshly made and hot when it was served.
The rice and beans were flavorful and a bit runny, so if you like a thicker bean this may not be for you.
The meat was sooo tender and juicy, it fell apart in my mouth and it was like eating butter. Which I was impressed with considering we had steak and pork.
The burrito was my favorite and I’m still going to go back and get my own.
I will DEFINITELY be going back here.
Mike was my wonderful server, and he helped me make a decision on what to get and gave good recommendations. He was attentive and checked on us to make sure we had everything set needed.
The booths were clean and the atmosphere was very friendly.
They also offer Sunday football!
*21+* I had a tequila sunrise and it was more tequila than sunrise but I’m also a lightweight, but it was definitely well made! Next time will try a blended Margarita.

This is me and my friends favorite spot. The drinks are sooo yummy and the staff are friendly and down to earth. and of course the food is always 10/10. We got the chipotle steak nachos, soft chicken tacos, and mini tacos. all bomb. also the mango margarita is soooo good. i dream about it.

We are passing through Anchorage and saw the sign, so stopped in hoping for some good Mexican food like we have in South Carolina and El Rodeo did not disappoint! Starting with the amazing margaritas and the super yummy queso spinach dip, we knew we had chosen well! The service was Great and the food was fantastic! Creamy, hot and very favorable! Really can’t recommend this place high enough. Don’t let the outside deter you as it looks like nothing special, but inside is some great food! We highly recommend!

Always a great time to be had at El Rodeo. Superman’s Kryptonite and an El Rodeo Iced Tea is the best way to start the evening. Classics and Signature dishes abound on the menu. Friendly service… delicious food… and awesome cocktails. You can’t ask for any better, Thanks!

Imma half breed, Half Inupiaq/half Mexican. AKA(Meximo). Anyway see it being we in Alaska, my diet growing up had more traditional native foods then not. In order for me to go and eat out at Mexican restaurants is I got to have someone who’s traditional food is Mexican food. I called my dad (whom by the way, is from Guadalajara). BTW he made a good choice in ordering my meal for me.
