I highly recommend this place . Amazing and tasty food! My picky eater loved the chicken nuggets. The birria tacos were authentic Mexican food. We got a great time with family. I had a margarita and was so tasty really strong. Stop looking for a different Mexican restaurant “El Rodeo Mexican restaurant ” is the place you always should go !!!

The food was great, we had the enchiladas with rice and beans. I had a frozen pina colada to drink, it could have had a little bit more pineapple but it was still very good. Service was very friendly and the food came out quickly. They served enough food that I couldn’t fit in dessert.

While painting Crunch Fitness in the adjacent shopping center, we decided to stop by El Rodeo Norfolk for lunch — and we are so glad we did! From the very beginning, they treated us like family. Since that first visit, it’s become our new favorite Mexican spot in the area.
Despite countless visits since then, the food and experience have remained consistently great. In fact, it’s only gotten better. The more we come, the more the staff get to know us, and each visit feels friendlier than the last. On one of our recent visits, we even exchanged canned goods with the staff — which truly speaks to the welcoming atmosphere here.
The food and drinks are excellent, and the portion sizes are huge. We always end up taking leftovers home and getting at least two meals out of one visit thanks to their generosity. El Rodeo Norfolk is more than just a restaurant — it’s an experience. We’ll definitely keep coming back and highly recommend it to anyone looking for delicious Mexican food and a place where you feel like part of the family.

Pretty straight forward mexican… if your looking for good food and great drinks this is your place. Old fashioned Mexican without all the flare. The food is good, the service is fast. I’ve been going here for many years, definitely a go to when you want a quick bite without all the modern mexican restaurant flare.

I ordered the number 11 on the menu, burrito, enchilada and taco and a tamales from the add on menu. I also ordered guacamole. When my food came out, I asked the waiter what was it because I am looking at the exact same thing drowning in sauce. I asked where is the burrito. I was told the burrito has the flour shell and the enchilada had the corn. I told them how because both had the same filling. Apparently what made the difference between a burrito and an enchilada was a flour and corn shell. The taco was in a hard shell with a lot of lettuce and cheese. If I wanted Taco Bell I would have went there. Authentic tacos are made with soft corn shell unless requested something else. It wasn’t good just tolerable.(taco) The Tamale had so much masa,. The Tamale was thick and fluffy with little chicken meat, it reminded me of a Shepard pie with extra potatoes without the vegetables . After I study the guacamole for a while and tasted it, I had to add salsa and lime to help the taste. I told one of waiters the food taste bad and it wasn’t done right which he also agreed. I ask the manager to remove it from my bill and he told me he gave me a discount instead and then he outstretched his arm and pointed at the other customers eating and said you are the only one complaining no one else so I am only giving you a discount. I didn’t have the time to argue or pursue my refund. When you don’t know what authentic Mexican food taste like and be served anything, what will you have to compare it to.

I don’t know if it was because I’m new to the place, but I didn’t get chips and salsa right away. The waiter got the drink orders and then the chips came. Kinda weird. The salsa was all right. I just the place by the salsa. I did order the burrito California. Not bad. I did eat half of it. I’m usually able to stretch it for 2 more sittings. It was good. My dad had the birria burrito. Said it was a little salty.

Great little authentic spot, staff was very nice and the food came out exactly as ordered. Delicious food, came out quick and was portioned well. Prices are on point, we were definitely satisfied on all accounts. Recommend a visit!
