Mediocre at best. Was looking forward to eating here from the reviews. Called for pick-up. Rolled tacos were more like rolled tortillas with a tiny amount of beef. The surf and turf was good but needs chipotle sauce. The meat in the Carne asada fries were good but the fries are not. They forgot our drinks had to drive back.

Can’t resist keep coming back to El Rinconcito and once again, it didn’t disappoint! I ordered the Hot Cheeto Burrito, and let me tell you it’s massive! Easily enough for two people, and still super affordable. Flavor was on point, filling and satisfying, just like every time I’ve been here. The staff is always friendly and welcoming, and the atmosphere feels like a true family spot comfortable, casual, and full of good vibes. If you’re looking for solid Mexican food that hits the spot without breaking the bank, this is it. Highly recommend!

Taco Tuesday is the best. I come for lunch every week. The Pollo Asada tacos and the fish tacos are my favorite. Sometimes I’ll go for dinner too. Oh and the burger is pretty good too.

First time here and ordered a medium carne asada fries. Best carne asada fries. The only downfalls were not so much sour cream and cheese and the salsa containers are too small. Ordered over the phone and it was ready in 10 min. Pretty quick.

Local shop under new management since June. Surf n turf burrito is the best around. First time here, but I will definitely be back.
UPDATE… I went back, got the same surf n turf (for consistency testing only, of course), but added a carnitas mulitas. Amazing with salsa verde and lime. You must give this joint a shot… it will not disappoint.
2ND UPDATE… The fries with half carne asada and half pastor are amazing!! Loaded with perfectly seasoned, delicious meat toppings.

El Rinconcito Taco Shop is a hidden gem that I’m glad we found! I was coming back from a job with my dog, Bella Tactical, and we were both starving. We were searching for taco shops in the area, and this place caught my eye. It only had 11 reviews, but the photos looked great, and I’m a sucker for mom-and-pop spots—gotta support the community when we can.
The moment we walked in, they welcomed Bella, which was huge for me because not many places do. Bella got a side of asada (just the meat), and I went for the carne asada plate. We sat outside, soaking up the warm and welcoming vibe. The front lady was incredibly sweet and friendly, and the cook was just as nice—it really felt like family here.
The food? Absolute perfection. The tortillas seemed homemade and tasted like it too, and the salsas were next-level good. This spot is definitely going on my list of must-visit places, and I’ll be telling all my friends and family to swing by when they’re in the area. If you’re looking for amazing food and great people, this is the place to go!

The best family ran and owned taco shop in the world hands down. I have a family of 5 we come here at least 1 to 2 times a week. Food is always fresh and hot and the prices or unbeatable. Please if there’s anyone that does food reviews in San Diego add El Rinconcito Taco Shop to your to go list! I’ll pay for your meal!
Thanks pops and mom’s for always treating me like family! Love you all and keep up the good work and same great taste

The pilgrimage to this establishment, spurred by the insistent, bright noise of the digital echo chamber, proved to be an exercise in tempered expectation. Specifically, the California Burrito—that regional standard-bearer—was a curiously perfunctory offering. While structurally sound, the interior failed to deliver the necessary complexity; the textures were present, yet the essential harmony, the coalescence of flavor that defines greatness, was conspicuously absent. The experience left one adrift in a sea of merely adequate execution. In a landscape where the artistry of Armando’s Mexican Food remains the established, non-negotiable benchmark, this new contender falls short of the true culinary meridian. The performance earns, regrettably, a measured three stars, a rating reflecting effort, but a profound lack of gastronomic soul.
