El Habanero is a new Cuban / Mexican restaurant at 324 Burnett Avenue. It’s 1-page menu lists Mexican dishes on the front and Cuban dishes and miscellaneous items on the reverse. I decided to try the Birria Tacos. They came in soft corn tortillas with some chopped onion and cilantro. The warm shredded beef was tender, moist, and flavorful. It was absolutely free of fat or grizzle. Every bite was delicious after applying juice from lime wedges and one of the two sauces provided. One was a dark red hot sauce and the other a green tomatillo sauce. The hot sauce was delicious and very hot, so use sparingly, and be warmed it’s a slow burn that increases with time. With my meal, I received their in-house chips and salsa, very good , and for dessert I ordered the flan. The flan was okay, but the tacos were outstanding. Most of their business is take out, and they’re busier at lunch than at dinner. They do have three tables for two. However, they have an additional room which they plan to use to expand indoor dining in the near future. The service was excellent, both attentive and friendly. The room was clean, bright and nicely decorated with Mexican/Cuban art making it a very pleasant environment to enjoy a meal.

A wonderful hidden gem right outside of downtown. We’ve been here twice now and plan to return on a regular basis. The food is authentic and made lovingly and our waiter was attentive and polite. El Habanero should be in your rotation, it will not disappoint!

Was extremely excited to buy a great Cuban sandwich, but once I got home it was awful, soggy bread, no dill pickles, very little pork , 3 Slices of ham, it was not toasted with butter, and it was sloppy looking inside and out. Definitely not worth the 12.99 plus tax

Under new ownership, different types of food but still a great place to eat. I used to frequent the last establishment that donned this location quite often. The owner was great, the food plentiful and delicious. This place has recently gotten quite the facelift. The inside looks all new. The people are extremely friendly and the food is really good here. I ordered the birria tacos for lunch today. It’s my first visit under new ownership and I’m excited to say they’re back in action. I am told the eat in dining room will be open soon so you can bring that special someone. I’ll post more pics as I slowly work through the menu

Glad to see this location re-open/re-imagine itself. Great service, good food, although one of my carnitas tacos seemed gypped in terms of size. Looking forward to going again.
Parking is all on-street, which is the biggest drawback here.

I ordered a Cuban sandwich and two empanadas. The Cuban had the smallest amount of ham and the tiniest pickles. The French fries served with the sandwich where probably re-fried given how greasy and hard they were at the same time. The empanadas were undercooked (the outside not crispy or bubly) and also soaked in grease. I literally drained grease & condensed water from the container. In addition they use containers that trap heat and cause things to get soggy (the metal ones you crimp the lid on). The only saving grace is the employee who took my order was polite and friendly.

Ordered the birria tacos and needless to say the experience wasn’t what I was hoping for. The tacos had no cheese and the sauce was different not in the good way.not good for the price tag at all
