So another little gem off the beaten path! My daughter and I wanted to try this since she moved up to her new house.

We traveled down to Trimble to check this one out and it didn’t disappoint! It looks small from the outside but has some size to it. It is small and inviting and has a cozy feel to it.

The salsa was fresh and homemade as others have commented. They have four different flavors from mild to sweat beading down your forehead. The food was fresh and the chicken was juicy! Great taste to it as well. The margaritas were also well made and strong!

The server and the bartender were very friendly and outgoing.

Well worth the visit!

1st time eating here. The waitress and bartender were great people, refreshing drinks, prompt service and enjoyable relaxing environment.

We tried 3 different salsas. Each of us had our own favorite. Definitely a salsa for each person. 🙂 The tortilla chips were fresh and warm.

Each of us ordered a different meal for variety and each were decent and filling. The menu selection was smaller than we are use to but still tasty. For a small town it’s nice to have a place like this to sit down eat and have a drink with great people.

If you’re looking for the most authentic Mexican restaurant in north Missouri, then El Rey Mexican Kitchen is the place. My wife and I have eaten at more Mexican restaurants than probably most people so we know a little about authenticity! This is truly a family operation, and it shows with the care they put into every meal, our server was SO knowledgeable about the menu, she helped us choose the right meal that captured our first impression perfectly! There are so many good things planned for the future of El Rey Mexican Kitchen, from live music, to comedy, and even Plays, but the real attraction will always be the amazing food and great service!

I have nothing good to say. We waited 45 minutes for food and finally gave up and drove to Platte City to eat at El Maguey. The restaurant was not busy, but they did have a lot of to-go orders.
It appeared that they only had enough employees to focus on the to-go portion, and left the dine-in patrons to fend for themselves. I really wanted to try the food, and will go back again once they get themselves organized and staffed sufficiently.
I cannot comment on the service, because we had no server. The young lady bussing tables was the only one that helped us with drinks and chips. I cannot comment on food because we only ate chips and salsa. (The salsa was good.)
There was a band that played 70’s music that was entertaining. To be honest, the band is the only reason I lasted 45 minutes waiting on an order of tacos and a side salad. My daughter actually fell asleep on the table.
They would honestly be miles ahead to just close the dining room if they cannot properly serve the guests. Focusing on to-go orders would at least prevent alienating and agitating dine-in guests, like me.

Small town, family owned feel. I noticed they have a small stage in the corner for music. 1st visit here and it was during the week over lunch for a random visit to check it out. Had a margarita and it was good, really strong. I thought the portion sized lunch tacos were a little small, but the rice and chips were good. I would visit again and try the fajitas or another menu item. Everyone was very nice and the service was genuine and good.

Music on Saturday nights. Martha Hael and friends. Food is made fresh when ordered. Try the tamales and tacos..since it is a small venue sometimes there is only two waitresses. However food is worth the wait. Homemade salsa and all entrees are made on site. It’s nice to have guitar and violin and flute live music. Also now has margaritas!

Excellent food! I am originally from California but have been living in Texas since 03. So this review is coming from someone experienced in eating at all kinds of Mexican restaurants. This is some of the best Mexican restaurant food I have had in 30 years. I ordered the green chicken enchiladas. The sauce was good, the tortillas tasted extra corny. The salsa was awesome! If my company ever sends me back on a business trip, I’m definitely hitting this place up again. Great customer service too. Everyone was friendly and welcoming.

Better than most MX restaurants in KC. Not the most authentic flavor, but definitely tastes fresh and yummy! I loved their salsa verde and chips. The service is a bit slow, but they are upfront about it. You can tell its a local favorite by how busy it was when we got there and when we left. Nice little homey mom & pop vibe. Our waitress was very friendly and serviceable.
