We eat here about twice a week! The chips are thin and fresh. I love the green salsa and my husband goes for the traditional red. We usually order their breakfasts, lunch specials, or fajitas (pictured). Not only is the food delicious and consistent, the staff friendly, prices reasonable, portions generous- we also love the iced tea… the final requirement! Very comfortable, laid-back vibe. They keep us coming back! (Update: they changed the flavor on the fajitas and we don’t enjoy them nearly as much. Order something else!)

If you’re looking for authentic, flavorful Mexican food, El Rey is it! The food is absolutely delicious and full of flavor in every bite.
As a Latina woman who cooks Mexican food at home, I’m very picky about where I eat Mexican food and let me tell you, this place delivers! The flavors are on point, the portions are generous, and everything tastes homemade and authentic.
Highly recommend if you want real Mexican food that actually hits the spot. I’ll definitely be coming back!

Food was absolutely the lowest quality possible. The chicken nachos were completely trash and even looked very bland apon delivery. The chips were soft and soggy, the nachos had sliced cheese, and 1 piece of chicken per chip. The combo fajitas were also as bad as it gets. The shrimp still has the shell on it & the beef was full of hard tendons that had to be spit out. Make the drive a little farther and go to Flores mexican restaurant instead.

Didn’t have many options for a late breakfast, so we chose this restaurant given the all day breakfast. It was very disappointing. The complimentary salsa for the chips tasted like canned tomatoes. I ordered “huevos divorciados”, which is a traditional Mexican dish consisting of two over easy eggs, one with red ranchero salsa and one with green salsa. They served with a side of “chilaquiles”, refried beans, guacamole, and sour cream. The chilaquiles were made with the complimentary tortilla chips that you get at any Tex Mex restaurant, they were not freshly made/fried. They were topped with a red ranchero salsa, which also did not taste fresh. They topped them with shredded cheese, then the eggs on top. It seems they stuck the whole dish in an oven/broiler or microwave to melt the cheese. This caused the chilaquiles (aka the chips) to get soggy and the eggs to overcook. Overall, this was a disaster. My husband ordered “machacado con huevos”. He was not pleased. They were not seasoned well and he was not expecting them to be “à la mexicana” made with tomatoes, onions and chiles. He may have just overlooked that detail on the menu, but still the eggs were not tasty (I tasted them as well). The side of potatos were not good. It seems they were boiled or steamed first then slightly fried. They were bland, not crispy on the outside, and the inside was unpleasantly overcooked and watery. We will not be returning. If you decide to give them a chance, I would try something off the lunch or dinner menu, but definitely not breakfast. Very overpriced for what we got. We could not even finish 1/4 of our meal. If the owners see this review, I would ask, please consider making your breakfast from scratch and in a more traditional way, the short cuts taken are not worth it and destroyed what could have been a simple but tasty breakfast. The service was pleasant, our server was nice. Reason for 3 stars one the service is she misunderstood what we wanted for drinks. Thanks.

Waitstaff are delightful! Ownership is horrible. I’ve had two complaints and they’ve gone unanswered and unaddressed. I’ve asked the owner to call me but she, Coral, could not care less about her patrons. I had a roach crawl across the bar in front of me. No apologies. No nothing. Chips and salsa are free when dining in. Their green sauce is especially delicious. However, if you get green sauce to go, at $8.00 a pop, you don’t get chips. It’s not considered a meal. It’s a meal for me. Besides, who cares? It’s $8.00!! Queso is the same price and it comes with chips! Go figure. ???

When enter the restaurant we waited to see if we needed to be seated but no one was there so we took accountability to go head and seat ourselves but when we seen the waiter seating others we told her we didn’t know if we can seat ourselves or be seated she then said well out of respect you should of waited and not sat yourself down. We got up and left.she had a very bad attitude and even said bye as we were walking out the door. Very bad customer service from the host.

Went in with coworkers to enjoy lunch and when we entered the restaurant we waited to be seated we then seen no one so we decided to seat ourselves a few seconds after that we told the waitress oh we where unaware we needed to be seated by someone the waitress said out of respect yes you did need to wait we then told her we where waiting but it was fine we will be leaving so we walked out she then said okay bye ! Customer service needs to be checked there and less attitude from the waitress that was going to take care of us.

I am a local and I go out to eat there with my mom and sister all the time…me and my brother and sister decided to go and my legally of age brother asked for a beer and showed him his id. He has 2 ids because he travels for work from state to state. And they declined the tx one because for their reasoning it didn’t work so he showed them his other one. And they didn’t even want to look at it, And we wanted to talk so the big lady with glasses came to us and immediately gave us attitude and told my brother to stop yelling at her and I told her he’s not yelling and she didn’t say it again because he wasn’t he was just asking and she was really being very rude she was raising her voice and being very disrespectfully condescending. This was very disrespectful of her. I’m going to make a complaint because this was beyond unnecessary.

Today was the worst experience I came across with your receiving waiter. She was the reason I walk out with my crew. If she doesn’t like her job, she needs to go home. Definitely won’t even consider coming back and will also remove this restaurant option from our Airbnbs, there is no need for anyone to go thru this experience.
