El Rey has great tender asada which is different than anywhere else I’ve been. My favorite is the standard tacos, they do things their own way and don’t just have the same exact stuff you’ll find at any place – so the flavors are familiar but unique. Always very fast place to eat. No complaints!

El Rey Burritos has developed a pretty solid reputation in the DSM area. As I love burritos this was a natural fit eventually, and I’m happy to say the food itself was good and lived up to some fairly high expectations.
Overall my burrito was almost awesome, I went with beef, perhaps another meat is better? I would’ve liked a little more red and green sauces, but sauce was adequate and the queso was a good balance and served in abundance.
I also had a couple bottles of Grapefruit flavored Jarritos soda which can be hard to find.
Initially the service felt a little awkward and standoffish which was kind of weird… But I’m a big boy and can deal with it for some good food.
If you’re on that side of town and like Burritos do it up!

I have been going to El Ray for years. My dad showed me this spot when I was younger, and ever since, it’s been my favorite local spot. I love the atmosphere, considering the fact that it’s an old service station is so neat, and it is always so clean and well kept inside. The service is quick, and the owners are awesome people. Always super kind and well-spoken. And the food, chefs kiss. On any day, no matter how I’m feeling, the El Ray steak burrito with hot sauce always lifts my mood and makes me feel so good. This is heartwarming food, and it’s a meal you’ll never let down.
