Stopped by for lunch and we made it just in time because as the time passed, it steadily became more crowded. I selected the El Regio plate that consisted of cheese enchiladas, a beef hard taco, beans, and rice. You get a choice of 2 or 3 enchiladas, of which i selected 2. The plate normally comes with a beef hard taco, but since I’m a vegetarian, I requested potatoes instead of the ground beef. They kindly obliged. I must say that everything was delicious and I was very pleased. I had a sweet tea for my beverage and oh my, it was sweet and right on point. They were definitely not stingy with the sweetener. Also, everything was reasonably priced. It was a great experience and before I forget, the service was very good.

We had El Regio Downtown cater our Christmas party today. The food was phenomenal!!! The staff extremely efficient and friendly. Food was delivered on time with generous portions. I would 10 out of 10 recommend!!!

Pretty much hidden in the lower level of an office building in downtown Houston at 100 Main St. Normally food restaurants around office buildings tend to try hard at being modern and healthy, however this place is a nice contrast to the rest. It’s surprisingly authentic and humble, although nicely decorated with Mexican paintings and their typical arched window openings.

I was seated very quickly by attentive waitresses, and the food came out with good timing. I had the pleasure to have a Torta with carne al carbon, and two tacos; barbacoa and al pastor. Both tacos were superb and the corn tortilla was not greasy and easy to handle. The tacos were not small at all; on any given day two tacos would have sufficed. But today I really wanted to try their tortas, and I have to say that perhaps I should have held back on the torta. Although the meat in it was tasty, the telera bread did not feel fresh and not enough tomato or beans in my torta for my liking. Not terrible but not great. (Thanks, Chernobyl)

Other than that, their horchata is delicious and so are the complimentary chips with salsa at the beginning. I definitely recommend coming here if you’re around the area. Kind of nice escapade from the usual sweetgreen, shake shack or any other typical lunch place.

Ah yes, almost forgot: their prices were great as well.

Tasteless, dry, unseasoned, and unflavorful. Ordered the beef fajita torta and fries. Worse dry and stale torta ever! Fries are stale as well. Total waste. Do not recommend!

New to the city. 1st time in the tunnel wanted Whataburger for breakfast but decided to try El Regio big mistake. I always gauge a restaurant by their most basic food item. Got bean & cheese tacos – 1 on corn & 1 on flour, tried red salsa on flour taco & green salsa on corn. The service was good, I enjoyed the tunnel atmosphere different. Now coming from San Antonio & originally from New Mexico let’s just say these tacos are even mid. They were edible BUT not great/good at all. This was my 1st & absolute worst breakfast decision, the tacos had no flavor the red salsa was good & the green horrible. I’m going to be clear these were some of the worst tacos I’ve eaten. I will no returning here. Disappointed.

I ordered a $15 cheese enchilada meal with a soft taco to go and was informed they do not include chips with “to-go” orders. Absolutely asinine ! And my taco had no lettuce, cheese or tomatoes. LAST TIME I will ever eat here…..

Service is good but green salsa to go was rotten with mold. The chips were cooked in old oil, bad taste .

The restaurant has a nicer décor than most others in the Downtown Tunnels.
It’s also a sit-down restaurant, unlike the usual cafeteria or food hall setups.
The breakfast taco is small and watery.
On the plus side, it’s not as overpriced as the $5 tacos at Juchi & Joey.
They offer two sauces, but both are mediocre. The red sauce tastes like pureed tomato with a hint of pepper, while the green sauce isn’t spicy at all—just overly salty (kind of like this review).

The food was good and the service was fast. I tried the Enchiladas Mexicanas and got an Horchata plus had space for some chips and salsa. It felt like a reasonable price for food without it being huge portions. Would go back for lunch
