A casual Mexican restaurant serving traditional Mexican dishes. Credit cards accepted. Tortas are HUGE! Two people can easily share one. They cut it half for me: one is for here and the other to go. Nice service.

Gorditas with chicharrone and chorizo was good but would prefer different meat options like pork carnitas or chicken. Flautas chicken was good as well. The quesadilla with huitlacoche was okay, the huitlacoche doesn’t taste fresh, probably from a can. Their hot salsa was tasty and spicy. Horchata is not free refills.

Got the carnitas plate. $17.99 and very tasty. Came on the bone which was a nice touch. Had a tasty salad and the beans and rice were good. Honestly no complaints, felt like a complete meal and high quality meat + skin. Other stuff on the menu looked real good and good prices too, plate was by far most expensive thing

I drive thru this area all the time but this was my first visit to El Recreo. After reading all the reviews I had pretty high expectations and I was not disappointed! I got 2 Tinga Tostadas and a Chorizo Gordita. The tostadas were brought out first, within just a few minutes, and they were excellent. Especially with the salsa verde and squeezed lime juice. Everything tasted fresh and they were very flavorful. The gordita was brought out shortly after. It’s huge, first of all. You definitely get your money’s worth. Crispy outside and exploding with flavor inside. So good. I will definitely be back again soon!

We got different types of taco, tripa taco was great but the rest were so so. With 3.50 per taco price tag, I don’t think I can recommend other than tripa taco. It took some time after my order to get the food, and I had to wait couple minutes to even mske an order.

We ordered the torta, handmade tacos and a regular taco. The meat was tender and delicious. Bread was perfect. Service was very friendly and fast. We’ll be coming back.

I ordered 1lb of chicken, pork, beef each to go for a farewell lunch for a colleague. This came with all the necessities, such as corn tortillas, radishes , lime , and cilantro. It was inexpensive, tasty, and plenty of food for us to eat. I will definitely order from them again in the near future
