Nothing hits the spot like a great meal after a long day on the road. Well nothing except a great meal AND a great drink. Either way, The El Rancho Restaurant at the El Rancho Hotel will be able to accommodate you. The El Rancho Restaurant primarily serves American and Mexican food including Steaks, Hamburgers, Fajitas, Enchiladas, Tacos, and Tamales. The main dishes are named after Movie Stars who have eaten at the restaurant like the Ronald Reagan Burger with a side of Jelly Beans.

Really enjoyed breakfast it was $25 with tip and coffee but I had these Eggs Benedict with hatch Chile’s and they were really good. I didn’t get to try the lunch or dinner unfortunately but I would definitely like to. The food was good and worth it.

Driving through Gallup on assignment. We knew the restaurant renovations at El Rancho were completed, so we wanted to check it out. If you’re looking for lodging this is a great place to stay. However, my review is for the restaurant only.

This is a Gallup must stop. Make sure to walk through the hotel and eat at the restaurant. The hotel is like stepping back in time, carefully preserved with Southwestern charm and simplicity. If you eat at the restaurant (highly recommended), make sure to start with the trio of guacamole, queso, and homemade salsa. Everything about this historic gem is worth visiting.

The food is nothing to write home about and the service varies but is really good for Gallup. Atmosphere on the other hand is great. There’s a lot of history here and I highly recommend a stop if you’re passing through. Kinds of actors and politicians, including sitting presidents have eaten and stayed at this place. All four stars really go towards that.

This is a must stop in Gallup, NM. Great history and connection with Western movie industry. Always order the Patty Melt on rye. Big sandwich and meal. Spend time browsing in the lobby.

We came to dinner close to closing time. Staff was ok considering we came late. Our waiter was very professional and apologetic when my burger wasn’t to my satisfaction. Restaurant has a unique atmosphere and beautiful artwork.
