We stumbled onto El Ranchero while on a motorcycle trip through the area. It was obvious from the signage that a recent change in ownership must have occurred. (It may be listed as ‘El Dorado’ like we found in the Local restaurant menus at our accommodations.) It wasn’t busy & we were nervous that maybe that was a bad sign. We could not have been more wrong.
The food was excellent; some of the best Mexican food we’ve had in a long time. Full of flavor, fresh, hot & good Tex Mex – but unlike the run of the mill Tex Mex food. The steak fajitas are superb with thinly- sliced meat perfect to load up in the tortilla & the grilled veggies were the seasoned & in the right proportion to the meat. The enchiladas are fantastic with 1 of each type of filling – & a fantastic cheese sauce! The service was personal, sincere & intentional. The next night, despite the fact we’d just had Mexican food the night before, we decided there was no place we’d rather eat than to return to El Ranchero…. And the decision was a good one. We got different items, trying the Diabla Shrimp & a chicken combo that was honestly the best I’ve ever had. We were super happy the 2nd night was as excellent as the first. And happy to see the restaurant was filled that night.
We were so pleased to meet Victor & his lovely family, who truly care about making El Ranchero successful by treating customers with attention & service that’s exceptional these days, great food in generous portions, super reasonable prices, & atmosphere that is great for casual, business or date-nights.
We live in Central Tennessee, & will actually consider making a road trip to enjoy Victor & El Ranchero again. Proof this is a real review? It’s been 3 weeks since we were in town, & we had forgotten to post a review… but El Ranchero is the first time we’ve been to a restaurant in a VERY long time, that there was absolutely NOTHING that could have been improved upon. El Ranchero is a local restaurant that is worth the try. It’s EASY to find if even if you’re just driving through- right off I75 at exit 62 at 1610 Richmond Street.

I was driving past and starving so I decided to park my truck and walk over. Totally the perfect decision. I ordered the Acapulco faijas for 2 and was surprised that it really is enough for 2 people so I have left overs. They were full of flavor, the kitchen was super quick at getting it out, and service was excellent. I will totally be back again when in the area

We enjoyed a great meal at El Ranchero Mexican Restaurant. It is right off the Interstate, so a very easy stop. They have a wonderful outdoor seating area. The host and server were very nice and our food was served quickly. They also served chips and salsa which we enjoyed. Prices were very reasonable. We would not hesitate to eat there again.

Tamales were very good! Taco/cheese dip/salsa also enjoyed. Kiddo loved his rice. We did carry-out so I can’t comment on atmosphere bit they were kind and quick. I would definitely go back.

Great service and delicious food made with care and authentic flavors. Owners are super helpful and nice. If your driving on I75, make the stop. It’s where the locals pick for Mexican food.

Very worn down ceiling tiles stained, booth seats torn. The whole place hasn’t been updated in years. The service in the food was OK until I walked into the bathroom. The ceiling drywall was completely covered in black mold or torn out. It smelled like a porta pot. It obviously has plumbing issues. Made me very concerned that if the bathroom was this bad, what is the kitchen look like? Will never come back
