If you enjoy Mexican food and drink this is your choice to go. The wife and I were impressed with the layout of the restaurant and the decorations. It might be a little over the top for some. The food was good and I enjoyed the ‘fajita’ lunch special. The wife had the tacos and rice lunch. They have several different brands of hot sauces to make you feel at home.

El Ranchero has made itself a staple in Spencer and for good reason. The atmosphere is absolutely incredible, like an overwhelming art museum and an ocean of colors and details. The food is always hot and fresh, the staff is lively and welcoming, and the price is absolutely affordable. I ordered the pollo con queso and was surprised to see three chicken breasts smothered in bubbling hot cheese as opposed to just one or two like I would have received in Bloomington’s Mexican restaurants. The chips were crisp yet buttery and hot. The salsa was very flavorful. And the entire atmosphere has the perfect summer night magic.

Have been here many times and every time I get the same thing a grilled chicken quesadilla and a side of cheese queso sauce. The sauce is amazing! And they know it. So they charge you a lot for a small amount. And the quesadilla is a little chicken with a lot of tortilla. The one time I say something about it and ask for them to make sure I have enough chicken they try to charge me for extra chicken. I will not be back. I know my once in a while business doesn’t matter to them. But the way the world has become and the way things like that just keep getting by just makes me sad.

HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE! My first time eating here. I ordered shrimp fajitas. She brought me a shrimp chimichanga. There were only 4 shrimp inside! The tortilla wasn’t fried. MY MEAL SUCKED! They didnt evwn comp my meal. Service was slow. The tables are wobbly. I’ll never go back!

Told them we wanted a table for three not a booth it took them forever to figure that out. When they settled us they gave us two menus. Put the chips on the table and left. Set there for a long time people came in after us they got drinks we never even got water. I will NEVER come to this place again and I suggest that you don’t.

Very cute indoor atmosphere, Mexican inspired, of course. The waiter staff was great, they keep your drink’s filled up! Your food is hot, when it gets to you. I had the shrimp fajita, someone else had Pollo loco, fajita nachos and traditional fajitas, I did not hear one complaint about the food, talk about yummy ! I left more than a 20% gratuity, because they kept plates cleaned up, our drinks filled, our orders were right, we needed a few extra napkins, our drinks refilled, they were on it, without my group having to ask for anything!

An authentic mexican restaurant. The decor was beautifully done with wood carvings. The Chairs are too pretty to sit in. Food was good and our group of 16 were satisfied. Staff was very attentive and friendly.
