Authentic mom & pop restaurant. The Pupusas were all fresh make, very cheesy and delicious. The soup is like home made summered for hours. The Beef Vegetable Soup has a large piece of beef shank with bone, so tender! The Tamale con Pollo is quite different from the Mexican tamale. The texture is soft & fluffy like a pudding.

Very kind service, fast and tasty food! I’m always looking for pupusa restaurants, I will be back to try the pupusas and hopefully the jamaica agua.
Today I tried the chicken tamales, corn tamales and rice, my first time eating a Salvadorian tamale, it was yummy, and the rice was also delicious! Thank you!

Honestly, this Salvadorian food was authentic—10/10! From the pupusas to the bomb horchata, everything was so good. My dad, who’s Salvadorian, even asked for 6 more pupusas to go. We’ve tried a lot of restaurants, but this is by far the most authentic spot we’ve found so far.
It’s a small restaurant with about 5 tables, and they get a lot of call-in orders, but the food is absolutely worth it. If you’re looking for true Salvadorian food, this is the place to go. The owner was super kind, and the staff was really helpful.

This is a really nice little restaurant! The food and atmosphere make it feel like your at your favorite relatives house sitting down to eat some of their delicious food. Very nostalgic mood, which make the food even tastier!
There pupusas and tacos were very tasty.
The staff were very quickly and kind to all of our needs.
The to-go bread they sell is also very good!
The prices were very fair and the portions were very nice.

Super cute and cozy salvadorenean restaurant, it is pretty small just fyi, but take it to go it’ll be worth it. Feels homey and authentic. We stopped here in our way to LA and it did not disappoint. Super fresh taste and tastes like being back in Central America. The owner was really sweet too. Anyway, the food was incredible and I would totally come back if I’m ever in the area again.

I stopped at El Pulgarcito on my way through town and wow it was incredible. The pupusas were fresh, flavorful and just delicious. Must add the curtido (picked cabbage mix) and hot sauce. It was all excellent! I had horchata to drink and it was the best horchata I’ve ever had.

This is my favorite place for authentic homemade Salvadorean food in Bakersfield. We have been going there for months! The owner, Consuelo, will take care of you. We go there for the pupusas and Sopa de Gallina India Asada. The pupusas are exactly how God intended them to be and at a good price. The Sopa de Gailla comes with perfectly grilled chicken that goes inside the chicken vegetable broth with rice. The dinning space is small so it makes it feel homey, like eating at my moms house. Give el Pulgarcito a try, you will keep going back!

We found this gem along our road trip route and we’re so glad we did! The food was incredible, as well as the service. We ordered the fried plantains that came with beans and crema and a couple of the bean & cheese and pork & cheese pupusas. There’s an authentic, home-made vibe. We will definitely be back!

Stopped for dinner in Bakersfield on our way to San Jose. We enjoyed some pupusas – shrimp for hubby & loroco (squash flower) for me. The chicken tamal was very fluffy and had more of a spongy texture. The plantain empanadas were very rich and creamy. Muy excelente!
