Authentic Mexican food in the VA mountains. Good variety, quantity and timely service of food. We visited on taco Wednesday; the place was packed, traffic in/out for pickup but the service didn’t falter. I would definitely visit again and recommend this place for a quality Mexican meal.

Outstanding service and food from El Puerto on May 7! They fixed 120 beef and chicken tacos with all the fixings for a Teacher Appreciation event in Waynesboro. The food was piping hot and ready to load in my car when I got there. Everything was fresh and teachers stated everything they ate was delicious. The food looked and smelled so good, we circled back and ate lunch there ourselves. $1.25 tacos on Wednesdays! We look forward to working with you in the future. Thank you so much!

I ordered the combination enchilada (cheese only) plate with rice and beans. The food was okay. I’ve had better enchiladas but I’m also from the New England area where the food is pretty great. I guess I got the best you can get for Waynesboro, seeing as I didn’t see another Mexican restaurant online close to here. The service was okay. My waiter had to get someone else to understand that I was ordering beer. I got my beer right away and they took my order maybe a couple minutes after that. I got my food fast. But what got me versus the New England area, when I was done.. it took about 5 minutes to get the check and then it took an additional 10 to 15 for them to even cash me out. Needless to say that they had cashed out people before me and took people’s orders and brought people’s food out before they cashed out my order. I’ve never really seen that in a restaurant. Usually they take priority in whatever person they come to first. But maybe that’s just the first from me being in virginia. The atmosphere is okay but everyone seems kind of judgy and it just made me feel uncomfortable. I will say, though, it was alright for some “okay mexican”. I’ve had worse so I can’t really say that it was the worst I’ve had. I would say that it was subpar. But I might also be a tough critic since I’ve come from a place that has really great food and service, no matter what or where it is. I would also like to say that they had to get me a different server to understand what I wanted even though I would say 90% of the population speaks English here. It’s not their fault but I do suggest that they hire Hispanic people that are maybe bilingual even if it’s not that great. I don’t think my waiter knew any English. I might get flack for that but I’m just saying that I’ve been to plenty of Hispanic places and they have also known english. The original person that was at my table serving me, he got someone else to come to my table and I could tell it was someone else maybe even a manager. I’m just saying this because it shouldn’t all be on one person in charge. That can become a lot for one person. But I do commend him for doing a great job helping to serve many people. I showed up around 5:00 p.m. so whoever was in charge then, he did an amazing job. I don’t want that to get lost in translation. Thank you for understanding, that when I wanted a beer, you knew exactly what I meant, unlike the other waiter. I am the most patient person and most friendly person so I hope that this review finds everyone well.

This review is based on one meal only, will be going back in the future. The dish I had was the Chori Camarones. Grilled shrimp topped with cheese sauce and Mexican sausage served with rice and beans and tortillas. The sauce was excellent. Would have like more chorizo, but it was very tasty. They have a varied menu, with the more expected dishes as well as some nice surprises. Reasonably priced, great service.

We ate there for the first time last week. We got a very friendly greeting when we walked in, and were at our table with warm chips and salsa within a minute and a half. We ordered from the lunch menu. The food arrived quickly and was nice and hot. Our waitress was SO friendly and efficient, and our food was amazing. We look forward to going back!
